Dreamcatcher Long time ago, in a native American village, the old and young people living there earned their own living and were regarded by other people as the ancestors of culture and life in America today. At night, when the storm bursted with a tremendous peal of thunder and a rush of rain, the strange and frightening dreams sneaked into the windows and stayed by the pillows on the children’s bed. Then children started having bad dreams every night. In the morning, people talked about the awful dreams which spreaded everywhere around the town in a short time like a plague. In the evening, with candlelight everywhere, a spiritual spider in the corner of the room heard the parents’ concerns. The spider decided to help them settle their…show more content…
“In the Black Elk’s vision, the hoop of the world referred to the communities of Native people. In his vision he saw the Native American going through a long time of suffering during which the hoop was broken and he saw people begin to be healed. Not only can the dreamcatchers be found all over the world, but they can be made by people other than the Natives. People are making dreamcatchers by themselves and sending them to their best friends, and to their family members. When dreamcatchers are sent by a person, it is more than a gift. It is a kind of charm that contains personal feelings in it. Dreamcatchers could carry the wishes and the love of one to another one when people are separated and urge to share each others dreams. Sometimes, the word “dreamcatcher” literally makes me think of someone being by my side, near my bed at night, catching all of the evil and letting me sleep with joyous and peaceful dreams. He or she could either be someone that had changed your life but already faded away, or someone who is going to show up in the future and go through the whole life with you. No matter who is the dreamcatcher or what is a dreamcatcher, there is always love, hope and infinite life along with you.
