The Decision Making Process MGT/230 July 16, 2012 The Decision Making Process The steps in the decision making process helped me in the past, especially this past spring when I had to decide between two job offers. Identifying the problem, examining the solutions, comparing the alternatives, making the decision, and implementing that decision seemed to be easy in hindsight but at the time it was stressful. There were a few factors I had to take into consideration when comparing the two job offers I had. The first but not necessarily the most important was what job paid. Second, how far did I have to drive to get to the job and third and probably most important was would the job be satisfying? After considering how much each job paid the IT position paid a little less than the health care position but driving time to the health care job would cost less in terms of gas and wear and tear on my car. I decided to accept the position as a long-term temporary contractor with Atos IT Solutions because I knew that getting my foot in the door and gaining some experience in my new chosen field would benefit me in the long-run. Entering the company as an entry-level Call Coordinator I would learn to use the software popular in the field and network with IT professionals, giving insight to the positions I ultimately would seek. After the initial interview with the hiring manager of the department, I would be working in I felt confident that there could be some advancement if I followed the directive of the company. I would have to continue my program and obtain my BS in IT as well as take a few classes and obtain some IT certifications to further my career at Atos. I knew this was the direction I wanted to take so I accepted the position and started the position in April 2012. I am pleased with the choice I made and think if I had not taken the steps described in the text for this class Management: Leading and Collaborating in a Competitive World (9thed) I would have made a string of decisions based on my situation at the time and that decision would not benefit me in the
