Lost at the Zoo Did you have a favorite animal when you were little? I did. It was the white tiger. But my love for this animal caused me to have one of the scariest times of my life. It was the day before Easter in 1999. Me, my mom, and dad were heading to my grandparents house in Indiana. We got there right before my cousins got there. We always spend Easter together. My cousins and I played a lot but all my cousins are older than me. We still had fun though. They went home later that night. Shortly after they left, it was time for me to go to bed. My mom brought me to bed, read me a story, we said our prayers, then she tucked me in and I feel fast asleep. When I woke up I ran out the door of the bedroom to find a trail of Easter eggs leading from the bedroom door to the living room. Every egg had a quarter in it and back then I felt like I was rich. When I got to the living room there was a big Easter basket waiting there for me. In it had a lot of candy and a little bit of money. Then at the bottom of the Easter basket there was a envelope that I almost threw away. My mom said, " don't throw that away yet there is one more thing inside." "ohhhhh", I said. In the envelope were five tickets to the Indianapolis zoo! I was so excited. I loved animals back then and I was jumping for joy. We got in the car and drove about 25 miles to the zoo. When we got out of the car and I looked at the sign. My eyes sparkled like the cameras at the super bowl. I was so excited. I had about ten dollars from Easter to spend. We went into the gift shop and got a little stuffed monkey. I named it King Kong. We visited a lot of animals but not any that really amazed me. I wanted to see the vicious killers and the kings of the jungle. I wanted to see a animal from the giant cat group. We went to the lions but the zookeeper said it was to cold for them.
