Who’s Investing More in Quality Education? Where am I going to get the next payment for tuition? Will my younger cousins receive a quality education, even if there is a possibility that their classroom could exceed 30 students? As a college student, who does not receive much financial aid, presidential candidates view on education, specifically education affects me as well as other families across the nation. Various political parties have different views on education and three parties in particular are similar in ways but very different in others. Democrats, Green Party and Libertarians all believe that getting an education is the surest path to a promising life, giving all students the opportunity to fulfill their dreams and contribute…show more content…
Libertarians believe that Education is best provided by the free market, achieving greater quality, accountability and efficiency with more diversity of choice. Recognizing that the education of children is a parental responsibility, Libertarians would restore authority to parents to determine the education of their children, without interference from government. “Parents should have control of and responsibility for all funds expended for their children's education.” (Libertarian Party Platform) In contrast to both Democratic and Green Party the Libertarian Party believes that K-12 education should be treated as higher education. Meaning, families of students who attend public schools will receive a voucher to attend any other school other than public schools. When Libertarian presidential candidate Gary Johnson was asked his plans for student loans and grants, he replied “My plans don't include doing anything when it comes to student loans. The reason for the higher cost in higher education rests with the fact that there are those student loans available. Because those loans are guaranteed, kids are graduating from college, literally strapped with [the equivalent of] a home mortgage.
