Most people that think a higher education should be free are not very wealth but there are programs like financial aide to help them if they have the desire to get a higher education. If a higher education is just handed to them they begin to take things for granted and if that happens then they expect everything to be handed to them. So if America paid for the higher education of its citizens, America would not improve but eventually fail. Not paying for the higher education insures there will be service jobs; people that don’t have the desire to try in college will not waste the government’s money, and utilize
What is 'educational inclusion'? Critically evaluate debates surrounding this term and discuss the extent to which it is possible to have fully educationally inclusive schools today. Inclusion is one of the very controversial topics concerning the students that are in this whirlwind of changes in education. It is the effort to put children with SEN (Special Educational Needs) into the mainstream educational system. The main purpose is to ensure that every child receives the best and most efficient education by placing them in the best learning environment that can be available for these students.
If a University is budgeting its money and only allows so much for scholarships and then those scholarships are given to those who can afford a college education, where do those who can't fall? Of course, if I was to look at this issue, more specifically the article in The Week on this issue, through the heavily made up eyes of a Bentley driving social queen fresh out of high school, I might flip my hair and say 'whatever'. But alas I did not grow up with a perpetual pout and a daddy with a 6 figure bank account at his disposal, so instead I'm saying if you can afford the tuition you shouldn't receive scholarship money. Keyword being money. See I think one of the substantial benefits of getting a scholarship, besides the money itself, is the recognition that comes with it.
One way of overcome this is to do research. Parents who hope to afford college for their children when the time comes around are better off researching options than simply trying to save more money for education. [ (Insider, 2011) ] Having options will make it better to decide how much you will spend for college. For example, it may be cheaper to go to a community college than a university. Now that the research and financial aid is done you now know how much you have to come out of pocket with.
Tuition or Burglary Why is college tuition so high? Something so necessary to succeed in today’s world should not burden someone for the rest of their life; many people live with college debt until the day they die. How do colleges come up with these ridiculous prices for in-state and out-of-state tuition anyway? Should private universities be able to charge more than a state college? So, how could someone pay for it?
Although Vedder’s argument is somewhat convincing because he points out the economic problems of a college education, he neglects educational benefits that students could get from a college education. First of all, Vedder argues that students with poor high school grades will most likely drop out and/or not get a good job even with college degrees. However, he doesn’t consider that there are some students who become motivated and attain high academic accomplishments due to positive effects of learning assistance programs in college. It might be true that students with poor grades would continue having bad studying skills and challenging time management problems, but there are many learning assistance programs that are available for students who want to improve their studying skills, such as tutoring services and learning strategy workshops. For example, Seattle University, from which I graduated, had great learning assistance programs.
The main components that make up that environment are their parents, the school system, and their peers. One of the main things that influences a student’s view of higher education, would be the parents. The parent’s level of education does not necessarily contribute, but rather how they treat the idea of higher education when around their child. The fact that parent’s opinions change their offspring’s thoughts is usually quite obvious; whether it’s politics or just what kind of food they like. For myself, my entire family has gone to college, so I feel basically obligated to get a higher education.
Educated citizens with strong social awareness are the basis of any democracy and especially a well-built democracy. Thus it becomes obligatory for the nation to educate each child to it’s fullest capability for self-realization, self-fulfillment and to make them compete and contribute nationally and internationally. Exactly at this juncture there comes the need for counseling, to realize these goals. Full potential is the key word that should attract the attention of the schools, it’s teachers on one hand and the parents, the government and the local community leaders on the other hand. School counselors are the bridges between these two sets of groups to assist students in reaching their full potential in their educational progress and accomplishments.
You know, all the classy gentlemen go to college, or at least that’s what tradition says. College or university might be the mainstream and what`s becoming the normal thing to do, and with our society’s view right now, anyone who doesn’t attend post-secondary education could be seen as a lower class citizen, which isn`t a good thing. The university/college situation right now is set up to be so high pressure for young people leaving high school. But we have to consider that more degrees correlate with higher unemployment rate. Our society undervalues entrepreneurial work, trade skills, and it discourages young people from pursuing this type of education after high school.
Bijena Adhikari Jerome Parent English 121-56I 03/29/2012 The value of college In this century “the value of college” has been a big debate among the parents, student and the professor themselves. College is not a gateway which guarantees better jobs and better salaries, but it definitely makes a huge difference while accruing one. College is a guideline for stepping out in a real world and tackling real problems. While the tuition fees are increasing every year so as the curiosity, is it worth spending that huge amount of money? And after graduating will there be a secured job?
