Les Miserables Book Review Recently,I’ve read the book Les Miserables and watched the film. Les Miserables is a novel written by French author Victor Hugo .It is a realistic and romantic work.Victor Hugo was a famous French poet , play writer, novelist, essayist, human right activist and represent of the Romantic Movement in France .His reputation in France basically rests on his poem and drama and then on his novels .He is a passionate supporter of republicanism and his work contains many political and social issues .His best-known works are Les Miserables and Notre-Dame do Paris.Les Miserables is a story which tells us a miserable life of the main character -Jean Valjean . To let him be a capable man who can fight with temporal society and his own life, the author endows him with amazing strong-will,extraordinary physical abilities , rare bravery and remarkable intelligence. After 5 years in prison because of stealing a piece of bread , he complains about the cruel law in the prison .He loses the chances to break the prison for 4 times which makes him stay there for 19 years. After passing the firm prison life , he is released .Because of ever being prisoned , he can not find any job . But his life changes when he comes across Bishop Myriel . Though Jean Valjean steals some silver from him, Myriel convinces him and saves him from being arrested .After that, Jean Valjean goes to a small town and starts a new life . He becomes a kind-hearted man who is always ready to help others .With his intelligence, he invents a new method to produce bangle which let him to run some factories and become rich. Finally , he is elected the Mayor there .Then he meets Fantine and helps her . Fantine is abandoned with a duaghter by her lover .She leaves her daughter Cosette in the care of others and works in Jean Valjean’s factory . But she is fired by a female supervisor who
