The Study of the Left Brain Versus the Right Brain and how This Affects Learning Elizabeth Jones College 100 American Military University Leslie Colegrove The Study of the Left Brain Versus the Right Brain and how This Affects Learning Research continues on the many studies of whether the left brain or the right brain has an impact on the way a person learns. The brain is considered to be one of the most important and complex organs in the human body. The brain is the determining factor in a person’s nature and how a person learns. Although the left and right sides of the brain process information differently, they also work hand-in-hand to process information together. Each hemisphere of a person’s brain can processes the opposite side of the body.
Learning is a process by which we acquire knowledge skills an understanding of abstract. ‘The secret of success is learning how to use pain and pleasure instead of having pain and pleasure use you. If you do that, you're in control of your life. If you don't, life controls you.’ Tony Robbins Everyone has a combination of learning styles. Some people may find that they have a main style of learning, with a lesser amount ofuse of the other styles.
* It just makes sense to me. * The facts speak for themselves. * I am going to check that off my list. Implications for learning What does being a "logical" person like this mean to you as you attempt to learn new things? As a logical learner you are naturally inclined to want to understand something rather than just memorizing facts.
Normally, (for numeracy and literacy) I support the higher ability group for Numeracy due to the 1-2-1 pupil I support, and the middle group in Literacy whilst keeping an eye on the other rest of group (just in case, but they are normally competent to work independently). When working with a table or a group, there will normally be pupils who are at different levels. That is why it is so important to be able to modify and adapt activities to enhance learning experiences. One important contribution whilst the learning activity is delivered is to ensure that learners understand the learning tasks and to reinforce the teaching points from the input. Being aware of the needs of pupils and the level of support they require, whether learning or personality needs.
• Quiet times are very frustrating. 2. Learning styles & strategies Learning styles: Auditory - Teaching • Begin new material with a brief explanation of what is coming. Conclude with a summary of what has been covered. This means we tell them what they are going to lean, teach them, and tell them what they have learned.
The left brain vs. the right brain Lisa Fettro APU Professor Nikki Charles The right and left hemispheres of the brain usually process information differently. People tend to process information they receive using their dominant side of the brain. However, people tend to learn both sides of the brain participate in a manner that is balanced. This is a clear indication that a person uses all sides of his or her brain to learn. The right part of the brain has its own style of processing information.
The differences of right- or left-brained people as well as how the hemispheres of the brain control various functions of our bodies and how they tie into being right- or left-brained are very intriguing. What exactly is the meaning of a person being left- or right-brained? It is common belief that left-brain people are more calculated or logical thinking while the right-brain populous are more artistic or more in touch with their emotions or feelings. Looking into the left-brain idea, one would believe that left brained people are better at “language, logic, critical thinking, numbers, and reasoning” (Cherry, K. 2013). Based upon these ideas, one would believe that left-brain people would be more involved in careers such as accounting, human resources, engineering and so on.
For instance, if you were to cut an orange down the middle this will be the example of the Corpus Callosum being split. We as human being have two eyes, ears, arms, legs, and kidneys (Lucas, 2001, p.13). Although, if we were to miss one of the two we are still able to function but with limitations. Therefore, the left and right side(s) of brain does impact learning by working together to help the body function properly without limitations. The left side of the brain has many different characteristics such as, controlling the right side of the body, logical thinking, critical thinking, language and many more (Webb, 1983).
Different people prefer different styles of learning. I think both learning by myself and learning with a teacher could be helpful. Learning with a teacher can prevent one from being confused and increase the rate and speed of learning. Another important point is that for practical subjects you have to have a teacher. On the other hand, sometimes I would rather learning on my own.
My learning style states that I am the type of learner who learns best verbally and with visual aids. My personal learning style affect my study habits because it consist makes me learn and process information at a faster pace and help
