Cuba had to use a Swedish ruse to safely and successfully ship sugar, an ingredient in bomb-making, to Britain and France. Finally, a reason that was very important to Cuba’s president Menocal was that U.S. support would help him continue to stay president since he declared war on Germany. One consequence of war was that the Cubans threw all Germans and Austrians into internment camps. 25,000 people were conscripted into the war and they underwent training for one year before they were sent out. As a result of the accessibility of the Cuban ports, the Cubans denied Cuban ports to German U-boats.

Following the assassination of his adopting father, Suetonius notes in The Lives of the Caesars that Octavian returned to Rome following military training in Spain and demanded Caesar’s will be ratified claiming his economical and political inheritance. Caesar’s will caused much tension between the new heir and his right-hand-man, Marc Antony. Antony was seen as a threat to the senate as he had spoken out against two of the senatorial murderers. Octavian was given consular powers hoping to contain Antony and fix many of Rome’s problems.

However it is evident that it contributed to create an atmosphere ideal for republicans to act in 1931 as well as to the outburst that lead to Civil War in 1936. On the one hand historian de la Cierva considers that the historic balance of Primo´s action was above all successful as it managed to tackle the long standing problems that suffered Spain by 1923. [3] One of the problems was the fatal decline of the army.
