Sistine Chapel Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel, during the Renaissance period, there were many great artistic achievements that were incredible. Michelangelo Buonarroti was one of the most famous personalities from this era. He was an accomplished artist, sculptor, architect, and poet who created many astounding works. Some of his great accomplishments were his sculptures of David and the Pieta. He is probably most remembered for painting the ceiling at the Sistine Chapel in Rome.
Rembrandt Harmenszoon Van Rijn Born on July 15, 1606; Rembrandt Van Rijn was a Dutch renaissance, baroque artist and etcher, considered one of the greatest painters and printmakers in European history of art. He died in 1969 as one of the most important painters in Dutch history, his contributions to art came in a period that historians call the “Dutch Golden Age”. Rembrandt’s youthful successes and his later bankruptcy are both reflected in all his portraits, in which his earlier self-portraits portray him in a wealthy setting. He also influenced and inspired the style of many other later artists and spent 20 years teaching nearly every important Dutch painter. The majority of Rembrandt’s portraits and illustrations were scenes from the Bible as well as his knowledge of specific text, his assimilation of classical composition, and observations of Amsterdam’s Jewish population.

In 1486 he was apprenticed to the painter and printmaker Michael Wolgumut and began to work with woodcuts and copper engravings as well. Durer's woodcuts and engravings made him famous across Europe and he is still considered to be the greatest printmaker of all time. By 1513 Durer was entering into his plenitude as a printmaker with his great copperplate engravings, "Knight, Death and the Devil," "St. Jerome in His Study" and "Melancolia I." All of these prints were about the same size, roughly 19x24 centimeters. Scholars agree that this series of engravings was conceived a a single set in which the artist established his mastery of the medium for all time.
Botticelli: The Mars and Venus Morgan Bertagna Pynes March 9th 2008 Sandro Botticelli or more properly known as Alexandro Di Mariano Fillipepi was born in 1445 and was one of the greatest renaissance artists of his time (“Botticelli Biography” 1). He also had some of the best paintings of the time, one imperticular being “The Mars and Venus”. He created it with Tempera on wood and it is 65 cm by 173.5 cm. It currently resides in the National Gallery in London. It is one of many of his works that was able to stay in great condition; it has been well preserved over the years with no missing or faded out sections (Lightbown 164).
The Medici family also had an impact in the history of the Catholic Church with four Popes from the Medici heritage. Along with the family’s political stature and religious role, it too was a great supporter of the arts and architecture in Florence and Italy (“Medici, House” 2). As one of the greatest influential powers of the Renaissance Era, the Medici family played a very big part in political control, religious influence, and artistic patronage in European society. Over time, the family gained authority slowly until they were able to found the Medici Bank. The family’s wealth and influence was initially derived from the family’s textile trade guided by the Arte della Lana, a wool guild during the late Middle Ages and Renaissance in Florence.
A lot of the Medici's money was spent on art, because they had a special love for it. They would buy art from artists to fill up their home with amazing, and creative artwork. The Medici family had a passion for art like no body else! The Medici family also had great interest in political power, and good defense strategies in war. They kept a strong military; stronger than any other nation.

Known for the invention of photograph and founding of the Kodak Company, George Eastman (in 1888) made a great rise, which still holds until today. The Renaissance began in the late 15th century and spanned from Italy throughout Europe. It was the rebirth of everything ranging from the economy to art. Francois Clouet was a painter to the Kings and his work “Lady in Her Bath” embraced the new form of artistic expression. In this paper I am going to explain how the “Lady in Her Bath” painting reflects the culture and ideology of the renaissance Era as well as explain some of the values, influences, themes, and techniques used. I will also provide information about the social, political and religious history of the renaissance Era that influenced its art and artists.
