My name is James Dela Rosa, and I’m a ‘Straight A’ student. 7 years earlier, we moved Stanford for my mother to go to University. My parents divorced when I was 1 years old and I have not heard of him since. My Mother, Ellie Dela Rosa is a caring person who inspired my love of learning. “This paper says you’re a doctor.” I said while looking at my mum’s diploma. Mum replied “uh, sort of. This is more than a piece of paper James. This is why I came to this country, that’s why I’ve studied so hard. Education is like a magic key to open any doors, with it anything is possible. “Can I go to school like this one day?” I asked. “Absolutely, your education is going to be better than mine. Lewis made me realize that the home is never going to help me so I have to solve the problem by myself. So I started writing letters to possible foster parents near Tyndale high. In the letter it said how desperate I am to have a foster parent so that it wouldn’t affect my living status and the chance of getting into Harvard. It stated everything the foster parent would love to know about me. My friends even helped me look for a foster parent that’s how supportive they were. I sent the letter to more than 15 foster parents but only one cared to come and meet me, the Walker family. Mr. Mrs. Walker and Chloe was such nice and welcoming family. Our first conversation felt like I am part of their family already. What more when I went in their house. Chloe welcomed me like her own younger brother. She told me everything about her. Like everything. She dragged me everywhere and she was really sisterish I guess. They were really an awesome family but I was still not use to it I still call them Mr. and Mrs. Walker. I still acted cold in front of them. I didn’t think it was needed for them to show affection to me until Mrs. Walker confronted me on how she feels and how I should not be cold at home and with them. I started to realize that they were right. Even though they are just my lawful family, they are still my family. Mr. Walker became my mentor since
