Later on Hector killed his close friend Patroclus, and Achilles seeks revenge on Hector. Hector is also viewed as more of the honorable one. Hector knows his role as the defender of Troy. Although of his devotion and love to his family, he could not abide by his wife’s wish for him to stay and not go to war. When Hector faced up to Achilles with his last dying breath, he wanted an honorable burial from his people.
Achilles tells Hector he will have no bed of death, nor will he be laid out and mourned by her who gave him birth, basically showing his incredible hate for Hector doing this heinous crime to his best friend. 3. How would you describe the relationship between Achilles and Priam? The relationship between Achilles and Priam would be best described as mutual. Priam seems to bring up Achilles’ father frequently in the confrontation they have about returning Hector’s body, maybe the elder fathers knew each other before he passed therefore
Creon prevents the people in Thebes to bury Polynices by saying that anyone who tries to bury him will be sentenced to death. This law may be harsh, but Polynices is a traitor who attacks his homeland. Creon makes no exceptions to the rule even when he realizes Antigone, his niece, tries to bury Polynices. It is easy for Creon to let Antigone get away with her crime, but he does what he thinks is right by starving Antigone. If he lets Antigone get away with burying her brother, it will make him seem weak, and the government corrupt.
Romeo refused to duel with Tybalt which made Mercutio to feel honour bound to stand in Romeo’s place and fight. In the duel that ensued, Mercutio is slain and dies. Romeo was enraged and felt honour bound to avenge the death of friend Mercutio. He sought Tybalt and killed him in a duel. The prince of Verona, when he heard about this, banished Romeo from the city of Verona.

In one respect I'll thy assistant be; For this alliance may so happy prove, To turn your households' rancour to pure love. · Romeo killed Tybalt because he killed Mercutio but this only happened because Tybalt hated Romeos family due to the old fued. So if there wasn't a feud then Tybalt wouldn't have killed Mercutio, Romeo Tybalt and as a result Romeo wouldn't have been exiled.
Friar knew about the problems between the Montague's and Capulet's yet he still marries Romeo and Juliet. Friar knew it would end in a feud between the families because he said “For his alliance may so happy prove to turn your households rancor”.
The feud between the two families played a huge part of the deaths of the two lovers. Since Romeo had the last name of Montague and Juliet had the last name of Capulet they were to be sworn enemies. Romeo and Juliet go against their parents and marry their own “enemy”. Because they got married they feel that they should keep
Ma was the one person who really kept the family from falling apart. Many times one of the family members would think they were causing trouble and want to leave, but Ma would convince them to stay. Uncle Tom often wanted to leave because he thought he brought bad luck to the family. Every time he threatened Ma and Pa never let him leave because they wanted the family to survive together. Tom also wanted to leave once because he killed a police officer and didn’t want his family to get in trouble.
Antigone knows that Creon knows what she has done and states, “I gave myself to death, long ago, so I might serve the dead.” Her brother not being buried changes the relationship she has with her uncle because her uncle now wants her to suffer and to e tormented for something she thought was right. Anti gone dies because she kills herself in a cave she can’t escape from. She hung herself and the first person to realize she was dead is Creon’s son Haemon. Haemon was devastated and wanted to kill the person responsible and he felt that there wasn’t a force on the planet that could stop him. Creon is told by Tiresias that if he doesn’t change the way he is bad things are going to happen.
In both plays Shakespeare explores the ideas of love at first sight, everlasting love, love being able to overcome anything and lust. Both Plays contain similar ideas and themes however since "Romeo And Juliet" is categorised as a tragedy and "The Merchant Of Venice" is described as a 'problem play' there are some key differences in their presentation. The context in which love develops also appears to have a major influence on the nature of this love. Shakespeare uses a variety of different techniques including oxymoron, sonnets and vivid imagery in his presentation of love which in turn helps to create an intimate relationship between the characters. Some may argue however that the theme of 'true love' is not presented between the main characters.
