I check for understanding and try to engage my ELL students to actively participate in the lesson. When they are done, I then ask each group to share their fact sheets and for the rest of the class to fill out the Navajo Culture handout on the board from what they learn from their classmates. When each group has presented their fact sheets, I instruct the students to fill out the other part of the Culture handout with their own culture. We then put those answers on the board. I instruct the students to put away their worksheets until tomorrow and project cloze sentences with the new vocabulary.

Starting with Alan Brinkley’s America History is a textbook. This textbook is directed towards advance placement students in high school and college students. The purpose for Brinkley writing this textbook was to help inform and teach students about our countries history. It provides a structured way to help students and teacher learn/teach the material. Howard Zinn wrote his book also as a professor to inform the reader of what happened in our countries history.
This essay will discuss several socio-educational issues imbedded in the School and Society textbook. The focus of this paper centers on the first five chapters of the text. Were we will compare how the issues relate to today’s current practice in today’s school and society. In chapter one, we will look at the Athenian Political Economy and how society provided for participation of citizens in government, and expected the education experience fit citizens for that responsibility. Chapter 2 will focus on Jefferson’s plan for popular Education and his proposed four tier educational structure.
