The freedom to worship and believe as you choose. We also have the freedom to choose, choose what you want to do and what you want to become. Freedom is more than a simple word, for it is a state of being that allows oneself to be themselves. With pride, many of us that live the “Land of the Free” fight now, always have and always will, for the independence that makes us equal and free. Freedom is the music that not only I, but many others, dance to.
But the thing that was most interesting is that most of the people in this society were incredibly happy, fit and some even smart. The way the government is able to ensure this is also different. They do not control the people via violence or oppression but rather by giving everybody in the society a very linear kind of life. They never have to make any choices that are going to majorly affect their lives. The biggest decision they will ever make is where to go on vacation.
By being independent individuals we don’t have to wait on other peoples support or permission to do certain things. We don’t have to go out of our way to please somebody else because we do as we want. When we are independent our confidence meter starts to rise up, it gives us that extra boost of motivation we desire to achieve new things. I believe that we are the creators of our own life, that we all have the same power to start and finish new goals but only a few have the actual strength and correct mind set to do it. Equality 7-2521 says that “the guiding star is within me” and that it points to just one direction, and that direction is “me”.
Freedom is more important than stability because stability is control and demanding and the freedom to feel, dream, and to be able to create your own life and be who you want to in a way gives you your own stability. Stability is important in a way but not nearly as important as freedom. With stability its all control and demand. Your being controlled and have to do what the society tells you every single day. For example, in Brave New World nobody in the community has a family and can’t even think on there own.
These are surprisingly simple questions to answer, self ownership is not a hard concept to grasp. Self Ownership is the concept that you and I as sovereign beings have full ownership and responsibility over our bodies and our minds. In Self ownership lyes the truest and most fundamental ideals of freedom-- do as you wish as long as your actions do not impede on the freedoms of others . This is a concept that many people believe we already practice in our society, but this is not the case. There are many laws that inhibit us as the owners of our bodies from having the freedom to do as we please.
America, “the land of the free and the home of the brave.” This statement to American’s is taken to heart and we know what it means to live in a free country. When most people hear the word freedom they think government or democracy. However, living in a free country means you have freedom in every aspect of your life, whether with politics, work, education, ect. As American citizens we can do almost anything our heart desires, because America is the land of opportunity and we take advantage of that. Many foreign countries have citizens that do not know what it means to live free, and they would do whatever it takes legally or illegally to get that freedom they desire.
So, all in all the U.S students do have it easier. Their life isn’t predetermined for them, and cares about more than just their education but also about having fun. The other students from the other countries don’t have such a luxury. Their main focus is to
On the other hand, people are free to believe and think what they would like. Given the location of Hillsboro, and the time period this story took place, customs were very different and people seemed much more radical. In today’s day and age, anyone is free to think what he or she wants and practice what he or she likes. No one should be forced to think certain ways or be punished for thinking differently. Thankfully, this is the direction our country and other countries around the world are starting to move towards but is still an issue at
The seashell radios are convenience at its best. All humans had to do was to have fun and be happy. Life truly seemed divine though it was
The first amendment grants us to express our thoughts and beliefs in a free society unlike most third class and communist countries. The first amendment includes the following rights; freedom of assembly, freedom of press, freedom of religion, freedom of speech, and freedom of petition. In so many countries freedom of speech is banned, without the first amendment one would fear to even protest because they could easily be silenced, religious groups could be victimized, and citizens could not mobilize for or against social change. We wake up every day and practice these rights without even acknowledging it. We have a right to say and do what we like as long as we are obeying federal and state
