They work with employees to deliver service to customers. In the process they learn about personal concerns employees are faced with at home. Having worked in the past for ADT for over 10 years, I am familiar with these roles and have a good understanding of each, having been a sales manager and supporting the EDO role as a Quality Assurance Manager. The sales manager role involves having leadership skills; attention to detail, persuasiveness, effective communication, fairness and decision-making skills just to name a few competencies. Leadership is vital to the sales manager role. Northouse (2007) wrote, “Leadership is a process whereby an individual influences a group of individuals to achieve a common goal” (p. 3). The EDO position entails being able to think fast; level-headedness, effective communication, decisiveness, and critical thinking skills, etc. The two positions are similar in that both require a high degree of decision-making skills to perform well.
