This passage is memorable to me because it shows how self-righteousness Nick Carraway is. Page: 45 Chapter: 3 III. The character I find to be most interesting in “The Great Gatsby” is Jay Gatsby who is who the book is written about. The very first impression I had of Gatsby was that he was quite generous with his money. The deaths of Jay Gatsby and Myrtle Wilson rekindled the flames of Tom and Daisy's marriage. Their ends marked a new beginning for both cheating spouses. They went from not being able to even stand each other to almost a normal matrimony. V. One discovery that stood out to me from reading this book, was the fact that persistence doesn't always pay off. Contrary to popular belief, sometimes it may have adverse consequences. For example, Jay Gatsby ended up wasting about a fifth of his life chasing his one true love, only to die a tragic, young death. VI. Personification: Page 1: "The abnormal mind is quick to detect and to attach itself to this quality when it appears in a normal person..." * The author is giving the mind human abilities to detect and attach itself to something. Paradox: Page 37: "And I like large parties. They're so intimate. At small parties there isn't any privacy." * One would think that small parties would be more private than large parties.
