Is John Proctor an Honorable Man?

The question that needs to be answered is if John Proctor is an honorable man. Well In my personal opinion, I would have to say that he is an honorable man. There is no one that is perfect in this world. People are constantly making mistakes, but does that make us bad, or does it just mean that we are human? John Proctor was definitely not a man without mistakes, but I believe that he did more good than bad in the end. Some of his actions were bad, but you have to look at the situation he was in. John Proctor was a victim of the Salem Witch Trials. The Salem Witch Trials were a series of hearings and prosecutions of people accused of witchcraft in colonial Massachusetts, between February 1692 and May 1693. In the book, The Crucible, a young group of girls are accusing people around the town as being bonded with the devil. We know that the girls are lying, but the other residents of the town do not. The town is so blinded by mass hysteria that they cannot see that the girls are liars. Then there are others that are using the girls to their own agenda. Throughout the story we see John’s character, and the way other people see him. In the beginning of the story it does not seem like John is a good person. It seems this way because we learn that Proctor had an affair with Abigail Williams. Abigail Williams is one of the girls that were accusing people of witch craft. Even though he had the affair, we see John tell Abigail that he had made a mistake. This shows that John Proctor recognized that he had done wrong, and he set out to rectify it. Not only did he try to rectify it, Elizabeth also admitted that it was partly her fault that John turned away from her. John Proctor does have problems with his wife Elizabeth, in both the book and movie. From this you could take that he is not honorable because he is troubling his spouse, but in the book it shows Proctor working
