In conclusion, I am currently against gun control because I want to make sure that innocent citizens can have access to guns and be able to protect themselves against criminals when they need to. Until the government can find more effective ways to control criminals’ access to guns, I will be against gun
Grifin M. Price Kendra Gallos English III H 3/21/18 Gun Control Will Not Solve Anything Guns are given a bad reputation because of the terrors that can be committed by people who want to cause harm. Those who are gun control advocates wish to ban certain weapons without basis, ban certain weapon attachments, and restrict the rights of the second amendment. Gun control supporters base their opinion on statistics about gun violence that use a portion of data that is not about gun violence just to boost the value of the number. Supporters of gun control dismiss the saying “The only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun,” because they are misinformed about the number of defensive gun uses (DGU) which far outnumbers the
What if that was one of your family member, wouldn’t you want them to be able to protect themselves? I would think so. Many people don’t think of gun violence this way but, it is very true. “Guns don’t kill people, people kill people.” It’s the person behind the gun that causes the death and deviation known with gun violence. So gun control is not the answer to the problem.
Concealed Weapons The U.S. Government cannot guarantee our safety, protecting ourselves and our families is our personal duty. The government should not affect the ability for responsible citizens to protect and defend themselves and their loved ones. One may feel safer being armed, even if they never need to draw their weapon. I feel we should have the right to carry concealed handguns, because we deserve the right to protect ourselves and our families, especially when the government cannot. According to a report by statistician, William Sturdevant, “A majority of adults who legally carry concealed handguns are law-abiding citizens, who do not misuse their firearms”.
If an intruder were to break in, and you're without a gun you're defenseless. Reenact the break-in with a gun in your hands, and watch the intruder run. Guns help intimidate and protect when law enforcement can't reach the incident in time. If any laws against guns were made, don't outlaw them because regardless guns can be obtained and used incorrectly. Instead, set restrictions and require a certain level of gun safety knowledge taught in a school based on the idea of self defense.
Gun Control Laws in America Firearms should not be restricted, nor should their accessories or capabilities. Placing laws that take away from our right to bear arms would only give negative effect on the safety of the general public and the amount of crimes committed. People need guns to protect themselves from the people who want to corrupt their lives by using guns, regardless of the law. Gun control laws vary from state to state. In the republic of California, some would say we have some of the worst laws and restrictions in the country.
The Right to Carry Concealed Weapons Currently there are 48 out of 50 states that permit the carry of a concealed weapon, each state having their own rules and regulations stating who can or cannot. But some people believe that carrying a concealed weapon should not be permitted. Some people believe that giving another person the right to carry a concealed weapon may compromise the public safety of the people around them; by allowing guns in public places such as financial institutions. Taking away a person’s right to carry a concealed weapon is not the answer to solve these problems, but regulations restricting where someone may carry might be. Having a concealed weapon is just another way to feel safe, but regulations have to be met
Not only did this study state that the weapons banned were only used in a small percent of crimes even before the ban, but also "found no statistical evidence of post-ban decreases in either the number of victims per gun-homicide incident, the number of gunshot wounds per victim, or the proportion of gunshot victims with multiple wounds. "(Koper, Roth 67) So even if Congress bans these vaguely named assault weapons it will most likely be as ineffective as the last time they did so. Some take issue with the ban not because of its’ functionality problems, but because they feel it violates their rights as
The Second Amendment is a law that was formulated to give the citizens of The United States of America the right to own and bear firearms. More gun control laws have been set in place as a deterrent for criminals to purchase firearms. Gun control laws are not the only way to avoid and protect criminals from purchasing firearms. Even with the gun control laws, debates, the Second Amendment and the Tiahrt Amendment, there is a lack of enforcement of these laws which has caused more violence. There also has not been a reduction in the number of criminals with guns.
Gun control laws have become such a huge controversy in the United States due to the fact that citizens believe their Second Amendment right is being taken away from them. In my eyes, I believe that extended gun control measures should be taken to ensure that access to assault weapons should be limited to certain people. I believe one deserve a well rounded background check to see if any mental health issues are visible. I also believe you have the right to own a weapon and the government is not trying to take away your hunting rifles, personal permitted handguns, etc. They government is emphasizing more on the fully automatic weapons, explosives, armor and other things that only the military should have access to.
