Unit 4222-324 (HSC 3029) Outcome 1, 1. Explain the importance of meeting an individual's communication needs. The importance of meeting somebodies communication needs is because if they cannot communicate effectively then you can understand what they are trying to express. Different people have different communication methods or methods that they prefer to use, so we should support them when using their preferred method of communication. Without communication people cannot express their needs or wants, so therefore it is a basic human right.
This allows them to work alongside their colleagues and lets them build good relationships with the service users even if they are from different backgrounds. People who have disabilities can have problems with communicating effectively with their careers and this could cause problems for them and their health. Verbal communication is a spoken language used by people to communicate out loud. To be a good communicator you can use verbal and non-verbal ways of communicating. A good verbal communicator is someone who listens well and can think and express ideas clearly.

Task B Bi My job role- In my job I work towards helping support independent living for vulnerable adults who have been or are being re-introduced into the community. My job consists of; -Medication administration (if needed) -Recording of & signing for medication -Personal care -Preparation of meals -Confidentiality When I started my employment I signed a contract consisting of my terms and conditions. I had to sign to accept that I would do a contract of a minimum 160 hours in a one month period although I may be needed to work additional hours.
If the individual feels rushed, they may become agitated or restricted and not therefore understand clearly. They may ‘give up’ if they feel under pressure. • Eye contact and visibility, body language. Much of communication is visible. If a person can have eye contact with you and pick up o body language and other visual cues it will help their understanding and communication.
2.3 Explain why it is important to observe an individual’s reactions when communicating with them – It is important to observe an individual’s behaviour because their body language is also a form of communication. Communication is a two way process called an interaction and it is important to observe people as you deal with them. As a carer we must be good communicators, this means much more than just talking to people. We must communicate through speaking, facial expressions, body language and gestures to name a few. 2.

It has to be accessible so it doesn’t become difficult to make a complaint. This could result in individuals not complaining. They also need confidence that something would be done about the complaint.
Without communication, we all might as well have been death. Having good communication skills is really important. Listening skills are one of the important parts of communication processes. We listen to obtain information, listen to understand, listen for enjoyment and listen to learn. By becoming a better listener, it will improve our performance, as well as the ability to influence others, avoid conflict and misunderstandings among people.
