Performance Management Paper HCS 427 Performance Management Paper Performance evaluations can vary on job descriptions and occurrences of when they are completed. Each job description should have a performance evaluation that matches to the employee’s job duties. It will provide a more accurate way to evaluate an employee and their job duties. The occurrences of evaluation depend on the organization. My organization does evaluations monthly for our department and then annually for the organization. The evaluation is specific to the two positions in our office. One is a patient account follow up representative and the other is a medical claims biller. It breaks down the expectation of all the job duties and the expectations of the individual. Efficiency, accuracy, interpersonal skills, and attendance are important to having an effective department. When billing insurance companies a biller needs to be accurate to avoid denials from insurance companies. It can cause more work for the patient account follow-up representatives that will have to follow-up on the account with insurance companies to determine why the insurance denied the claim. This can cause delay in payment, rebilling, and more work for the follow-up representative. Disadvantages of the evaluation has preconceived expectations can be hard when each specialist in billing deals with different providers. Having a standard when the same rules do not apply to each payer can be difficult to make an accurate evaluation. For example, if one biller does commercial claims and the edits are fix it errors compared to Medicare that has several different edit errors, rules, and guidelines that need to be followed. A Medicare biller has to consider different billing edits for medically necessity, medically unlikely errors, modifiers, and 3-day
