It will also cut down on gun violence and mass shootings in America and keep weapons of war out of the hands of criminals and the mentally ill and to limit the amount of rounds in a magazine. The bill, if passed, shall go into effect 60 days after signing into law because of the need for safety. From the mid 1970’s to the mid 1990’s Australia had several mass shootings, ending with the 1996 massacre where a mentally ill man opened fire with a AR-10 semi-automatic rifle, killing 35 and wounding 23. This was the event that led Australia to pass a gun control law. It has worked, even though violent crime has not completely stopped, murders are down dramatically.

Gun Control in the United States English 102 “The fact that we can’t prevent every act of violence doesn’t mean we can’t gradually decrease the violence.” These are the words from President Obama as he speaks on all the tragedies that have taken place in the U.S such as; the mass shooting that killed twenty-six people in Connecticut at Sandy Hook Elementary School and the mentally ill soldier from Fort Hood, Texas that killed himself after killing three and wounding sixteen. It is definitely time for people to come to an agreement on what need to be done about all this violence. Stricter gun laws will reduce criminals and the wrong people from having it easy to get a gun. The second amendment can still be respected while keeping people

Riyadh, Asharq Al-Awsat, the Saudi Ministry of Interior, has doubled the extent of licenses to obtain or carry a weapon to ten years and 5 years for stores that sell weapons with a new bill for arms and ammunition. The bill states the conditions for those who wish to obtain a license for carrying or owning personal arms and hunting weapons to be at least 21 years old. They must have no criminal record and be mentally and physically healthy. Gun control advocates have several arguments that they feel will support their cry for gun control. First, they feel more handguns that are being bought without stricter background checks enables these guns to get into circulation that will cause violent crimes. It’s stated in the Cliff Notes that each day, on an average, 13 children under the age of 19 are killed by gunfire or injured by a gun. Most youth homicides are committed with firearms. In 2010 handguns comprised 68.5% of all gun murders in the United States (FBI 2010).
