I understood that companies had to have satisfied workers to produce good results, but I never knew that companies like Zappos focused on this aspect as a framework for their entire company. When I eventually find a job, I would like to be acknowledged by my peers and be a part of a collective unit. In my opinion, workers are likelier to be more motivated when both their extrinsic and intrinsic motivations are met. One of my main takeaways from this topic is that money isn’t the best motivator.

Abstract In this paper, we address the strengths and weaknesses of W. L. Gore and Associates. We explain how Gore empowers employees to succeed in their positions, while also being creative and inspiring others. Weaknesses are addressed within the organization’s lattice approach including those of place and purpose for employees. One of the most important traits of highly effective and successful companies is that employees are happy and have fun at work. Leadership is not assaulting your employees, but to lead your employees you need to motivate by using caring, inspiring, empowering, teaching, growing, investing and your employees will follow and want to contribute. Assaulting as in forcing, criticizing, and bossing your employees around will not only wear them down and unmotivated them but it will exhaust the boss as well. This book is a great resource for my paper because it supports that leaders grow their employees and make them happy.
