P2 Fitness test for the main components of fitness There are 8 components of fitness which are, cardiovascular endurance, strength, muscular endurance, flexibility, speed, reaction time, agility and coordination. 1. Cardiovascular endurance This is also known as an aerobic endurance or stamina, which is the ability to repeat an activity for a length of time without becoming tired. A fitness test for this component is the cooper or bleep test. Cooper Test/Beep test Cardiovascular endurance can tested for by using various maximal tests which test your limit of endurance in some exercise . Examples include the Cooper test or the bleep test. The 12 minute Cooper test is an excellent method for determining a persons' cardiovascular endurance levels. In carrying out this test, the subject will run around a measured area for 12 minutes using maximum effort. Once the time has finished the subject will stop running and their distance will be measured and recorded. 2. Strength Strength can be defined as the maximum muscular force we can apply against resistance. A fitness test for this component is the Grip test. Grip Test The grip test measures the strength of an individual’s grip by the use of a grip strength dynamometer. The dynamometer is set at zero and the handle adjusted to fit the size of the palm. Then the dynamometer is simply squeezed as hard as possible. The reading on the gauge tells you how strong your grip is. 3. Muscular endurance This is the ability to repeat an activity for a length of time without getting tired. A good fitness test for this component is press ups or sit ups. Muscle endurance tests can often be done at home with little assistance. These tests use basic exercises, such as push-ups and sit-ups. The sit-up test requires a rhythmical cadence of 50 beats per minute to measure the most sit-ups that can be performed
