| Comparison of Discipline Models: Wong’s, Kagan, Kyle, & Scott, & Morrish | GCU:536 | | Ja’Net Smith | 6/19/2012 | | Model | Strengths | Weaknesses | Advantages | Disadvantages | Agree/Disagree | Wong’s Pragmatic Approach:This model focuses on student achievements through classroom procedures and management. | •Specific set of procedures must be taught 1.teacher must explain and show students the procedure 2. teachers allow students to rehearse the procedure with them 3. teachers reinforce the procedure until the students know how to do the procedure ).•Procedures and classroom management should begin as soon as preplanning and continue throughout the first days and for the remainder of the school year | •Students may not grasp all procedures and therefore student teacher relationships are not created•Some needs of the students are vague and more attention is focused on how the teacher can be successful | •Shows how teachers can have control over their classroom from day one regardless of what age group is being taught.•Shows how teachers can obtain order, discipline, management and procedures in the classroom | •Individual student needs are not looked at and unexpected events that could occur in the classroom are not addressed.•Teachers may have problems implementing parts of this model due to student’s different behaviors.•Using this model teachers may find themselves overlooking how to help students develop individual potential skills. | I agree with this model because Charles (2008) states that Wong’s pragmatic approach through procedures shows that student’s achievement is associated with good teacher classroom procedures from the first day of school. | Kagan, Kyle, & Scott Win-Win Discipline:This model looks into ways to meet the needs of students by allowing students and teachers to work together to handle behavior
Therefore, during middle school and High school I was able to use what I learned in my previous years to write paragraphs, essays and research papers. As an administrative assistant it is important that I know and use every writing strategy that there is. Every week my company holds an executive meeting and it is my duty to take meeting minutes. Writing meeting minutes is a headache but is an essential duty and it is essential that the minutes are written effectively. I’ve had an experience in which the minutes I took weren’t written effectively, therefore everyone ended up going in different directions & then had to meet again for the same original purpose.
488). O`malley explains that students should be given test frequently to allow the teachers to give their students feed back in where their grades stand in the class and to discipline them into studying on a daily basis. The article also mentions that some professors are usually against more testing because it would be time consuming for them to prepare the exams then grade them. However, this issue can be solved by having teaching assistants or by grading multiple-choice exams by scantron machines. In conclusion, O’Malley strongly suggests that professors should give students
“Bridge Builders seeks to develop among high school students a group of future leaders who can lay aside individual and cultural differences and work for the benefit of all.” This is the mission statement for Bridge Builders which is a program that I participated in my junior year of high school, and now actively involved with my senior year. The program, without a doubt, lives up to its mission statement. During the program we participated in leadership, personal, and team building activities. The program’s methods taught me how to be a great leader in any situation, whether I was leading myself or a group. I also made life-long friendships, and I am still meeting new people at our meetings that we have during the school year.
I am going to use some techniques described in this section such as scheduling early classes, studying in between classes and when I am studying, actually focusing. This quarter my latest class starts at 9 a.m., and my earliest class is 8 a.m. This already shows how I put this section into effect. I plan on scheduling my classes early like this for the rest of my college career that way I can get an early start every day. I try to study in between my classes during my two hour breaks on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays so I don’t fall behind in my schoolwork.

Yes, we have known each other before attending college but this transitioning stage in life has really opened my eyes to my own reality. Maranda and I have known each other for about 6 years now, and I can honestly say she has helped me become the person I am today. If it was not for her getting on me, pushing me to get my things done and us working together with homework, I would probably still be in culture shock today. Every day she inspires me to do my best in college so that in the future I will be able to help provide for my family and me. Getting to know her the past few years has definitely helped made our friendship stronger, both inside and out of school.
When I’m in class, I need to ask questions, make comments, and participate. Even if I consider myself to be shy, think of it as a challenge and a great learning experience. 3. Start preparing for the exams 2 weeks before the date they will be given. The first suggestion I chose was to improve my time management skills and prioritize my work.
And I want to tell a truth about me, and maybe lots of students are like me. When I was a student in Grade 9, I had 9 class every day, and I had at least 3 math class in each day. That time, we did not have time for noon break every day because we had to do math exam. The way of teaching is another important factor. In other parts of the world ,the math teacher focuses more on the ability of learning by oneself.
Preparing for success in school might seem like an easy enough task, but when the responsibility finally falls on the student, he or she is often caught off guard. Dictionary.com defines preparation as a way “to put in proper condition or readiness” (Dictionary.com Unabridged. 2013), and by following exactly as the illustration suggests, a student can take charge of their success. A student could begin this task by first gathering information about upcoming courses. Often times, students rely on having everything provided for them within the first week of their course, when in fact most teachers expect for a student to
