Chinese Are Better at Math

Whether you admit it or not, being raised in Asia, we beat people from other parts of the world in different fields of math. In Math competitions or the college courses, the Asians always stand on a higher level above the other students. People always wonder why Asians did such an incredible job in Math; is it that the Asians are born to be smarter than others? I take no for an answer. Although nobody could really find out the exact reasons, we are willing to share our own opinions. Pain and hard work are required on everybody’s way to success, as is the same with Asians. Behind the halo of our success in math, it is the tough school life. The toughness of the Asian curriculum is a important factor that cannot be ignored. According to the Canadian BC curriculum for grade eight, students should know how to calculate the surface area of a prism; This is hard for us to believe because this is what we studied in grade three or even earlier. At the same age, we are working day and night in order to solve the functional relationships between two moving points on a complex graph. Again, most of students in the USA are at school at 8:00, and go home at 15:00. However, most of students in China are at school at 7:00, and go home at 18:00(at least). And I want to tell a truth about me, and maybe lots of students are like me. When I was a student in Grade 9, I had 9 class every day, and I had at least 3 math class in each day. That time, we did not have time for noon break every day because we had to do math exam. The way of teaching is another important factor. In other parts of the world ,the math teacher focuses more on the ability of learning by oneself. The teachers act like only a night light in the darkness, and the students have to find the way out on their own. They may trip and fall, but they will eventually learn to fly on their own. In
