The Rodriguez Family Tony Ledwell Walden University The Rodriguez family just experienced a major flood in the community that destroyed their home and businesses in the surrounding area. Michael and Sarah are the parents of two daughters and they only had one source of income because Michael is a full time student earning a degree. Sarah does not have employment due to this natural disaster. According to James and Gilliland (2013), such a plan needs to consider what options are available to the client and what choices need to be made in regard to those options. During this crisis, the Rodriguez family may need emotional support from mental health professionals because the event that occurred maybe too overwhelming for them.
This was not like her. I walked up and down Hastings St. asking almost everyone I came into contact with if they had seen her or knew her. Sarah was well known on the east side. No one had seen her. I then called 911 to put in a missing persons report and was told you had to be family to do that so immediately I called Sarah's sister Maggie, and she filed a missing persons report.
The founders were vehemently committed to idea that the staff would not tell people what to do nor pass judgment on them. Instead they were instructed to listen and encourage those who came for help to make choices that would be beneficial. The Family of Woodstock provides a lot of shelters and housing programs such as: Family House (a runaway and homeless youth facility), Darmstadt Shelter for the homeless (a facility primarily for men and women who are in various stages of recovery), The Family Inn (a shelter for homeless families) The Washbourne House (a domestic violence shelter for women and their children). Homes offering shelter to teens (HOST) is a program for runaway, homeless, and at-risk youth that provides shelter and support services. (North West Human Services, 2010, p.1). These teens and youth are often homeless or in an unstable living situation and in immediate need of shelter and services. HOST offers a safe place to go where they can learn skills, gain education and find employment.
Anthony’s mother determined the need for the program. She then told Ms. Anthony of the need and she began researching the situation. Ms. Anthony worked for mental health outpatient program in one of the neighboring cities, but Ms. Anthony felt a strong desire to be home near her ailing mother. Therefore, she did some research and found there was a need for anger management and life skills for adolescents. There was no place in Merced that provided the type of services needed for the programs offered through TSI.
