Joey Chen Oct 27, 2013 Ethical dilemma of genetic technologies First off, let’s define the meaning of ethics. The way I see it is that ethics is a moral belief. People can distinguish ethics by religion, culture, or even what they believe is right from wrong. In this case, we discuss cloning in a variety of ranges. The range goes from cloning from plants to human species. Let ask ourselves some questions. Do you think it’s ethical to clone animals in comparison to humans? Or even cloning farm products? I’m certain that in today’s modern world, half of the things we eat are cloned. The growth of food is low that the only way to populate our society from starvation or hunger is to clone more food. Now let’s take this matter into another country. In Africa, millions of people are starving each and every day due to lack of food and shelter. The people in Africa don’t have the capability of developing a technology that far exceeds our technology at this moment. The United States have different political system then the system they have over there. We have education system that educates students with history, science, mathematics, and etc. For someone as intelligent to come up with a technology, it shows that they question themselves with “What if I create this? What will happen?” In order for someone to question one own self, they come up with ideas and that’s where experimenting comes into place. In this article, the technology is mainly dealing with cloning. I think we shouldn’t treat cloning any differently. Cloning is cloning. Just because one may clone an animal doesn’t make any difference as one was to clone a human being. You may think that cloning animals will save today’s world from hunger, well guess what?
