Organizational Ethics Amy Chaney ETH/316 October 7, 2014 Scott Myers Organizational Ethics World class service is what gives a company an advantage against its competitors and United Parcel Service (UPS) has been a leader since 1907, UPS is the largest package delivery company worldwide it is also a global provider specializing in logistics and transportation service. UPS started out as a messenger service and move into a logistics company. “UPS has grown into a multi-billion-dollar corporation by clearly focusing on the goal of enabling commerce around the globe” (UPS: About UPS n.d.) This paper will address how ethical principles can be used to address organizational issues. It also addresses the role that external social pressures have in influencing organizational ethics, how these issues are relevant to organizational and personal decisions and the relationship between legal and ethical issues. Legal is an objective view and can be applied to a widespread of things and ethics is on an individual basis. The terms come together in behaviors such as being right or wrong. In conclusion, ethical principles are addressed along with organizational issue when there is opposition. When problem happens, people react. There was an incident where UPS fired 250 of its employees because they decided to protest to walkout for 90 minutes. UPS said they had the right to fire employees who engage in illegal walkouts.
