It is a basic requirement of my job role to communicate with individuals and their families and other members of staff on a daily basis. Communication with other members of staff ensures effective team working. It also ensures any health and safety issues are recognized and reported.
Effective communication between staff is essential for care to be professional. Without effective communication care needs of the clients may go unnoticed leading to medical problems, abuse, depression etc. Communication with residents is most important in care job. That’s the way how you can easier understand they needs, requirements. It can affect service that carer provide to residents-more effective communication, better service to residents; with effective communication carer is building trust between residents and staff that helps in future work with them.
Duties and responsibilities of job role: I am employed as social care support worker. My duties include day to day support of the customer and of their house hold, management of customer’s finances, support with health and medical issues; promote independence and aid in building social skills. I must build a working relationship with the customer and be able to meet their needs and expectations. I must at all times adhere to health and safety laws, meet CQC standards and follow company policies and procedures within my job role. CQC standards affect my job and influence the way I perform my daily tasks.
Unit 304 HSC 34- Principles for implementing duty of care Outcome 1- Understand how duty of care contributes to safe practice 1.1- explain what it means to have a duty of care in own work roll: In my own work roll as a care coordinator it is my duty of care to ensure all service users have their calls at the correct time. I should be ensuring that staff and service users are compatible, to promote a good working relationship and deliver the best care possible with all needs being attended to. I also have a duty of care to my staff to ensure that they are all trained correctly. It is my responsibility to match the right staff with service users to ensure staff can build rapport with service users and that service users trust the staff to inform them if the have any issues and so staff can tell when something isn't right. It is also my duty of care to encourage independence and communicate with families and other agencies (GP, social services, police) ensuring that my actions reduce risk to the service users, myself and staff members and making sure it follows all legislation and laws.
