Notice that these days in our society everywhere we look, violence is there;the streets, alleys, school, and even at home. Violence can even find its way into our homes through TV that we watch on regular bases. The amount of violence shown in the media has formed a lot of arguments. Many video games, television programs, adverts, films and music lyrics show different forms of violence. Some people feel that there is too much violence shown in the media.
Television has become part of everyday life. With the growing fixation and attraction to violence in the media, children in today’s society are becoming more violent and aggressive than ever before. However, to obtain a true understanding of this problem we must look at all aspect that cause violence, and not just put all of the blame on the media. Nevertheless, we shouldn’t forget the number one violence causing aspect, the media. Scientists have tried to explain why children are so amused by a big glowing box and the action that takes place within it.
The Hunger Games serves as an allegory for modern entertainment, economics, and government to criticize on society’s entertainment in violence and how it can provoke violence in society, government’s control by creating fear and weapons, and a criticism on the gap between the rich and the poor which creates a hostile relationship between first and third world countries and these ideas demonstrate that society is corrupt and young people are the only ones that can change it. In today’s society, people find entertainment in violence which can ultimately stimulate violence in society. Teenagers find entertainment in violent video games which can lead to acts of violence. About 97% of teenagers play games that contain little to no violence, sex, and drugs, and studies have shown that in some cases video games can cause teens to become violent and aggressive (Harvard’s) In The Hunger Games, The Capitol finds an immense entertainment in violence. The actual games make young adults in the novel become inhumane and violent in order to survive.
Critique on Do Video Games Kill? This article “Do Video Games Kill” by Karen Sternheimer addresses the wide spread idea; video games are the cause for “young killers” (210). Sternheimer believes concern for the influence video games may have on youth is spiraling out of control. She put most of the blame for this out of control concern on the media. She also writes some about politicians and the Juvenile Justice system.
When children start to abuse the convenience of the internet by harassing other people, the internet becomes very dangerous. What makes cyber bullying so dangerous? Cyber bullying is dangerous because it has the ability to take the smallest incident and build up so much tension around it that it results in a murder or suicide. Some people may blame the victim for lacking self control and not being able to ignore the situation. Some people may claim it was just a joke and may blame the victim for being too sensitive or insecure.
The children of today are subjected to violence in popular songs, television shows, and even computer games. A parent having guns accessible to children and the society the child lives in all play a part in the destruction of our youth. Juvenile offenders are now facing tougher punishment for their actions. Should society take responsibility for this and try to rehabilitate the youth, or should society penalize the youth and charge them as adults? Juvenile crime is stated as "an act committed by a minor that would be considered a crime committed by an adult, such as vandalism, burglary, assault, or murder" (Silverstein).
If exposed to violent TV for an extended amount of time, it may be able to desensitize anyone, especially if they come from an already broken home or bad neighborhood. To say that because of this desensitizing, everybody is to be more violent would not be accurate. Many who have broken the law or committed crimes against man don’t even have access to TV. People in bad neighborhoods or broken homes or schools are more prone to violence because of what they see around them,
With the rapid development of the society, Internet plays a larger and larger role in our daily life. The question of how free we are when we express ourselves online also becomes an issue. The Supreme Court deals with a case called Elonis v. United States this term, which involves a man says on Facebook that he will kill his wife, a FBI agent, and bomb an elementary school. As far as I am concerned, the Supreme Court should limit the extension of such kind of violent speech because it has already caused threats to other individuals and the society as a whole, and such fact is more important than whether he intended to do so or not. Elonis believes that his right of free speech under the protection of the First Amendment was violated.
Is media really the blame? For violence? My opinion is this; media violence has a big influence on our children Today. But not just today be since the beginning of the time media has begin to make Its path on society. The reason I say that media is related to the aggression and violent behavior is Because, I have seen with my own eyes, how watching something on television, in movie Theater or listening to music can cause disruptive violent behavior.

Introduction Violence in our society, perpetrated by criminals, mentally unstable and easily influenced individuals produce effects that are more far-reaching and destructive to society than the physical damage they produce. It has been proposed that the media, through news reports and fictitious depictions of violence, directly influence others to commit such acts themselves. It is proposed that, similar to a contagious disease, witnessing or reading about a violent crime often can pass the idea of such behavior along to individuals who may never have conceived of such a thing on their own.
