Some opinions about Adult Education are negative in saying that adults should not have the rights or privileges to learn English. There is an objection to the adult learning and that the U.S. should focus solely on the children of these adults. If this were the answer to resolving the issue then we need to rethink our current situation. Immigration will continue to increase in America and not educating the Adults would pose a harmful threat to our country. Adults are children’s first teachers before they enter the education system and in saying that our focus should solely be on the adults children would be a detriment to a greater cause.
After the ten year termination, the exclusion act was reenacted without a terminal date. Along with the new immigration law came rebellion; foreigners neglected the law and crossed the border. With time immigration had such a major increase that the government had to enforce the law by protecting its border. To protect its border the government built a fence, a fence that was not able to control immigrants from bringing their families to the land of opportunity. Families fled from their country to the United States in order for their children to have a brighter future in the land of opportunities.
Who gained from this was our K-12 reform programs (Department. of Education, 2012). If this was so, then why are most of our programs being shut down? It seems like we do not get the full story of what is going on with the program budget and were is all of the money going. They are always raising college tuition to help pay for different programs but, it seems that they are not focusing on the programs for the diverse students that are here in the United States.
Marx argument was against the "infamous" communist proposal of abolishing the family. He says the modern family is based on capital and private gain. Communists are also criticized for their desire to abolish country and nationality. Also Marx said, “Free education for all children in public schools, and abolition of children’s factory labor in its present form.” In the communist country like China education isn’t free. If you want to go to school, you have to pay money to go to school.
So society is said to be meritocratic, as everybody can achieve if they want to. Durkheim (2002) Believes that there are fixed rules for all and by transmitting the norms and values across society, it is then fair and meritocratic. Marxists on the other hand believe that meritocracy is a myth and that it hides the truth of the inequality in society. Sociologists argue that the processes in school such as the hidden curriculum helps to keep society unequal. The hidden curriculum has a big influence on pupils, its one thing to teach the child educationally but if the child is treated unjustly (no voice) by the school system then a much more negative message is given to those pupils about the nature of society.
The passage of the “Pick the Public’s Pocket No More” bill would lower college application rates, lower college graduation rates, and lower our country’s number of new college graduates for open positions in the work force. Without grants, many Americans would not be able to pursue college degrees because of the debt they would acquire financing their degree with loans alone. Federal grants allow young adults, who are the future of our country, to pursue a college degree without the full burden of college debts after graduation. (M) When considering whether or not to pursue a degree, many are persuaded to apply because they often receive grants to assist
Alexis Smiley Dr. Lowe EH 101-119 December 3, 2012 The Importance of Quality Education The article “In Defense of Elitism”, by William A. Henry III., talks about how he does not agree with letting every student into a college and they do not meet the main requirements as those students who are putting effort forth towards their education. Henry thinks that the schools should raise its standards. He also believes that democracy should demand that all citizens have an equal opportunity, but thinks the egalitarians are taking it too far by insisting all should finish equally. Henry's aversion contends that people cannot learn until they think they can do it; therefore, the starting point of education should build within the individual.
In 1982 a law was passed by the Supreme Court stating, “all children living in the United States have the right to a public education, whatever their immigration status”(Griffee). Now in Alabama they are indirectly breaking the law, illegal immigrants are scared to send their children to should because they are afraid that their immigration status will be found out. The schools have no business asking for the kid’s immigration status because it has nothing to do with their schooling. The law is not directly breaking the law because it is not saying that kids of illegal immigrants cannot go to public schools, but that is the affect it is having. I think that all kids are entitled to an education, and I completely agree with the law passed
Paying the same tuition as illegal immigrants pay takes away citizens’ right to exclusively obtain American education for one they or their parents are taxpayer to fund the school, and two illegal immigrants are in the United States illegally. Furthermore, higher education is a federal public benefit because colleges and universities receive federal funding, and illegal immigrants aren’t eligible for federal benefits (Trevizo 2). A report on June 28, 2011, that the Maryland version of the Dream Act which awards college tuition benefits to illegal aliens was in peril of repeal due to the frustration of Marylanders with illegal immigration (Walsh 2). It is essential that the state policy allows verification on who qualifies for in-state tuition and who doesn’t in order to prevent undocumented students taking seats away from legal residents (Trevizo 4). If illegal aliens are allowed to attend public higher education, higher tuition price is a must.
If that happened in the US, the policies would not work to the advantage of the State for a number of reasons: the USA is not suffering from overpopulation, strategies to control the population have failed in a number of countries which have tried to impose it, and using birth control or abortion is unethical. This essay will discuss issue of population control and explain why the U.S. government should not limit the number of children a family should have. The total fertility rate (defined as the total number of children a woman is likely to have during her lifetime) in the USA in the last decade has been decreasing (Newman, B. & Newman, P., 2008). As many women concentrate on their educational goals and careers rather than on marriage and children, the growth rate of the American population has slowed significantly.
