1.) I pledge to use the knowledge and experience I gain at WWU and beyond to actively work towards a more socially and environmentally responsible world. I pledge to consider intergenerational equity, minimization of consumerism and the preservation of the biotic community within my future endeavors. I will bring integrity, stewardship, and social justice into any organization of which I work or affiliate. 2.)
For example, a learning environment could be; classroom, science lab, art studio, playground or sports field. An important factor to remember when planning an activity, inside or outside, is that all children and young people should be given equal opportunities. All children, including those with special needs, need to be considered when planning the learning environment. This means the environment may have to be adapted to meet specific needs. Four factors that need to be considered when planning a safe learning environment are: Cleanliness – whilst outdoors it is important to ensure that the learning environment is hygienic to use, ensuring the area is clean, free of litter, animal excretion, etc.
A current application of this concept today can be found, many of the national curriculum material include interactive activities and even educational software for the child to engage in self-controlled learning. Behaviourist Theorists such as John Watson and B.F. Skinner contributed greatly to the behaviourist perspective of development. Behaviourists believe the child’s environment shapes learning and behaviour; in fact, human behaviour, development and learning are thought of as reactions to the environment. This perspective leads many families, schools, and educators to assume that young children develop and acquire new knowledge by reacting to their surroundings. Many environmentalist-influenced educators and parents believe that young children learn best by role activities, such as reciting the alphabet over and over, copying letters, and tracing numbers.
It asks important questions such as how we as a society can correct our excesses and deficiencies with regard to protecting the environment. For the followers of this approach, it is institutions that determine and influence human behavior; so as a result, institutions should be the ones to correct that behavior. For them, “it is necessary to see the
The poisons will kill fish and the reef in which the fish live because there is no precise way to deliver it. The fishermen will dump the poison on the water in a likely spot and catch what floats up. The problem with poison is that it does not choose what it kills, so it kills reefs and poisons the area for new generations, then the fishermen go on to another area to repeat the destruction. [ (Coral Reef Destruction and Coversation) ] 2. Red is the endangered areas In image 2, the most endangered reefs are in areas that are considered “Third World”, where populations have limited access to education.
The principal objective of ecosystem management is the efficient maintenance, and ethical use of natural resources. Resources for the future research addresses the challenges of sensibly managing forest, fishery, water, and other natural resources, integrating economic and ecological information to evaluate alternative ecosystem management and conservation strategies in the United States and around the world. Ecosystem-based management is also an integrated approach to management that considers the entire ecosystem, including humans. The goal of ecosystem based management is to maintain an ecosystem in a healthy, productive and elastic condition so that it can provide the ecosystem services humans want and need. Community-based approaches to ecosystem management is about people who care so much about their quality of life today and in the future that they have chosen to wrok with others to improve the places where they live, work and play, while restoring the
These students require behavior support plans that are specialized, individualized, and highly intense. Such plans must be based on information about the nature of the problem behavior and the environmental context in which the problem behavior is observed. The FBA approach provides a systematic and informed means by which targeted interventions can be developed and monitored. Whatever the approach, the more proactive and inclusive the behavior intervention plan – and the more closely it reflects the results of the functional behavioral assessment – the more likely that it will succeed. In brief, one’s options for positive behavioral interventions may include:
Companies have deposited their waste in the lake, which has caused the lake to be shut down because humans are getting sick and even dying from the polluted waters. Viruses, pathogens, chemicals and toxins are all part of this pollution, which affects recreation, jobs, and habitats of animals. Fishermen have not spent money fishing for sport due to the drastic reduction of the salmon population at Lake Huron. Recreational hours at the lake have also seen a drastic decrease. This devastation affects a majority of the U.S. being one of our largest sources of fresh water, and will only continue to deplete, as companies carelessly dump their waste into the lake.
16). With these programs the education related to workplace injury and exposures and how they affect families at home can be communicated more clearly. With these actions to decrease injury and exposure can be taught in a language that is easily understood ( National Partnership for Action, 2012, pg.6). Conclusion Cultural diversity in the community today has become the norm rather than the exception. To ensure health and education is planned and acted upon, partnerships with many entities are needed in all areas of society to meet the needs of the diverse populations involved.
In order to inculcate peace, we must have peace within ourselves first. The way to teach others on how to care for the environment is through example. And through that, our influence will reach the world. We
