He also is loyal when he goes and rescues them from Circe. He could have not buried Elpinor and he did not have to rescue his crew from Circe. Another person that show loyalty is Penelope. She could have just picked one of the suitors but she believed Odysseus was alive and she was going to wait for him. The sad part about this is that Odysseus was not loyal to Penelope.
Odysseus also a firm believer in hospitality; Which explains why he was in such distress after learning of the suitors attempt to take everything he’s ever worked for. Guile is a clever form of deceit. Odysseus was full of it; the perfect example was when he introduced himself to Polyphemus. “My name is Nobody; Mother, father, friends/everyone calls me Nobody.” (IX) Odysseus knew that they would they would try to kill Polyphemus, so He gave him this alias because he was aware that Polyphemus would call for help to the other Cyclopes, and when he did he would sound like an idiot. He also used his guile on Calypso.
It appears that Hawthorne infers Chillingworth initially had another plan, a plan that would not ruin Arthur Dimmesdale’s life. The questions is, why Chillingworth chose to torture Hester and Dimmesdale when he could of simply revealed that he is Hester’s husband? He could possibly get pleasure from quietly torturing them. It would be too easy on Dimmesdale and Hester to show his true identity so he chooses this plan. "What evil have I done the man?"
Creon prevents the people in Thebes to bury Polynices by saying that anyone who tries to bury him will be sentenced to death. This law may be harsh, but Polynices is a traitor who attacks his homeland. Creon makes no exceptions to the rule even when he realizes Antigone, his niece, tries to bury Polynices. It is easy for Creon to let Antigone get away with her crime, but he does what he thinks is right by starving Antigone. If he lets Antigone get away with burying her brother, it will make him seem weak, and the government corrupt.
Macbeth’s motive for murdering King Duncan was possibly based upon pleasing his wife as much as Macbeth’s desire to assume power. Macbeth committed the murder but Lady Macbeth was the strategist behind the plot. She was the one whom persuaded Macbeth, drugged the guards beforehand, calmed Macbeth down and instructed him what to then do afterwards. One would ponder as to why she did not murder King Duncan herself but the reason for this is revealed when she commented that she would have killed Duncan herself had he not resembled her father as he slept. This shows throughout all the meticulous planning of this cold hearted plot, deep down, Lady Macbeth had a level of morality that was not shown openly.
He feels personally responsible for the death of Lavender; he thinks that if he had been paying more attention, Lavender’s death could have been prevented. And this is similar to Odysseus’s conversation with Arete because Arete also questioned Odysseus about his cloth, which shows that she still has some doubts, and she wants to make sure that Odysseus is telling the truth. At first, Brabantio believes that his daughter was tricked by Othello, that he stole her away with his magic spells and witchcraft. However, in reality, Desdemona had wanted to marry Othello all along, despite their differences and her father’s warnings. Desdemona let herself marry a man of which her father did not approve. This witchcraft Brabantio believes Othello possesses is advice to Desdemona. This acted as a warning that Desdemona should never have become involved with such a “Moor”.
