In Book 14 Odysseus returns to Ithaca and Athena disguises him as a beggar, without this disguise Odysseus would have been killed by the suitors and it also delays the final confrontation between him and the suitors and also delays the recognition scene between him and Penelope. His disguise also helps him test the loyalty of his characters and from what he can see he knows that Penelope (Book 19) shows her loyalty by telling Odysseus how she has made the suitors wait until she finishes Laertes’ death robe,

Hassan and Ali would have never moved, and Hassan wouldn’t have died the way he did. Amir probably wouldn’t be afraid to call Hassan a friend and would actually play with him in front of others. Hassan would have never had gotten raped. But if this truth had come out, Baba’s respect, the respect everyone had for him, would’ve been gone. People would have different thoughts of Baba.

He shows that he is honest when he says, “I am one of the few honest people that I have ever known” (Fitzgerald 64). Although Nick has close friends, he is not completely trustworthy if them. Nick proves that being honest makes him a better friend and a man of good character. Nick also portrays trustworthiness by being honest to Gatsby about Daisy. Although Gatsby needed to leave town, he “couldn’t possibly leave Daisy until he knew what she was going to do” (Fitzgerald 155).
Odysseus sacrificed his safety so the men could control the ship without falling for the sirens, and dying (745-753). This act created a stronger relationship with the crew because of the fact that he sacrificed himself to save them. Odysseus truly faced and overcame adversity. It wasn’t just for himself either; it was for the safety and well-being of his men. In The Adoration of Jenna Fox, there were a couple characters that faced adversity.

Knowing that he could have been less obstinate and changed his assessment of power would have prevented Creon's son and wife from dying the way they did. Although Antigone was also persistent in not changing her own viewpoints, this worked in her favor because she was stubborn for a better reason than Creon. She stood up for her family because she knew it was the right thing to do. Creon did not show that he cared about anything but his own appearance for the fear that he will be observed as weak, until it was too late. By comparing and contrasting the characters of Creon and Antigone, one can assume that a lesson to be learnt from reading this play is that one should do what they believe is right based on their values and not concentrate on the thoughts of those who aren't important to him or
