History and Philosophy For 92 years Fallon Ambulance Service has operated as a family-run business. In 1923, James Fallon, Sr. founded the company which quickly grew into one of the biggest independently owned ambulance services in Massachusetts. The company was originally started as a limousine and ambulance service and in 1962, Fallon decided to focus on ambulance service. At first most calls to Fallon Ambulance Service were transporting patients from hospitals to nursing homes. Things began to change in 1991 when the company was awarded a 9-1-1 contract with the town of Milton. Today, Fallon Ambulance Service has been awarded six municipal contracts to provide 9-1-1 services. When the company was founded James Fallon Sr. believed that “caring for others was one of life’s responsibilities.” This philosophy was passed on to each generation and the company still operates with Fallon’s words in mind. Compassion for others can be seen in every department from the front office to the EMTs. Fallon’s reputation for quality of care and outstanding volunteer and educational work has made them a leader in the industry. Fallon Ambulance Service’s main objective is to “deliver effective and efficient out of hospital and pre-hospital care based on the Triple Aim – enhanced clinical outcomes, decreased total medical expense, and enhanced patient satisfaction with care.” The Company Today Fallon Ambulance Service employs over 680 personnel including 404 full-time employees and 285 part-time employees. The company grew from seven ambulances in 1974 to the 115 ambulances in service today. In 2013, Fallon Ambulance Service earned $68 million in revenue. That number grew about 13% in 2014 to $77 million.
