Country vs City

Country living has the benefits of more land on which children can play and more trees in which to build forts. Also, pets may not have to be confined to the house, the backyard, or the kennel. More importantly, there is fresh air in which to breathe and work. Furthermore, in the country I would have the opportunity to plant a vegetable garden to produce fresh produce. In contrast, I would have to plan an all day trip to the city to purchase groceries and supplies. Also, if I was employed in the city it would make for a much longer day, having to leave for work earlier and getting home (to my family) later. However, if a medical or fire emergency were to occur, the response time greatly increases if I was to live in the country. On the other hand, living in the city, there are shops and stores within blocks of one’s home. Also, it is easier to visit with friends and neighbors in the city, because they live closer, whereas, in the country, your neighbors may live miles away. In another sense, the city is a very busy place; one might worry about his children getting hit by a speeding vehicle, while playing in the driveway or on the sidewalk. Also, the lots in the city are much smaller than in the country; therefore, there is very little space for children and pets to run and play. Also, in the city, there are a lot more people packed into a smaller area. Furthermore, in some cities the atmosphere is filled with smog and pollution, making it more difficult to breathe the oxygen depleted air. This, in turn, can add more stress to one’s everyday work schedule. Although, living in the city has many benefits, such as necessities close by, more and more people are choosing to move out of the cities to raise their families.
