Components of Fitness There are many components of fitness when it comes to training. These fitness components are split into two groups. Physical Fitness and Skill-related Fitness. Components of Physical Fitness There are six components of physical fitness. They are; 1. Strength 2. Flexibility 3. Power 4. Speed 5. Aerobic Endurance 6. Muscular Endurance 1. Strength Strength is the ability of a muscle or group of muscles, to be able to exert a maximal resistance in one single contraction, to overcome some level of resistance. Most exercises in a gym require strength in order to be carried out fully and successfully. The most common source of training to improve strength is weight training. The benefits of weights training is that the weights offer high levels of resistance, therefore, the amount of force needed is higher giving the training a higher chance to increase strength through exerting their maximum force through the point of resistance being put up by the weights. When weight training is performed properly and successfully, it can provide significant functional benefits and improvement in overall health including an increase in bone, ligament, tendon and muscular strength, as well as improved joint functions and a reduced injury potential. Another popular training method to improve strength is Split Training. Split training involves the working of no more than three muscle groups or body parts each day. This is because it is deemed impossible to train all the muscles in the body in a single day due to the required amount of calories and the time constraint in place due to being forced to tale rests because of fatigue. Instead, the training of specific body parts is spread over several days through a training cycle. Split training is commonly used by more advanced trainers due to the logistics involved in training all of the muscle
