Communication Modalities- E-mail Angela Gentile HSC/490 Mrs. Loy Date: September 16, 2012 Miscommunication can be a challenge in the health care market. To improve communication with patients, include a variety of communication modalities. The consumer and the provider will both benefit from the variety of communication modalities; e-mail is a specific communication modality. Providers who have good communication relationships with their patients will lead to patient trust and satisfaction. New technology has improved the form of communication between patient and provider. E-mails are used to communicate with family, friends, coworkers, and now with health care professionals. Using the internet and e-mails has grown, as new technology is advancing and is continuing to progress. E-mails seem to be the way for patients to communicate with a provider. Patients use e-mails to communicate with their providers for many reasons such as, lab results, prescription refills, schedule appointments, and any question about a follow-up and medical condition. There are some concerns regarding e-mails, but these concerns do not stop patients from taking advantage of this form of communication. RE-mailing in health care has advantages for patients, like, convenience, access to care, patient satisfaction, and quality care. Satisfaction of a patient is needed in the health care market, but poor communication can lead to poor satisfaction for the patient. Even know face-to-face will be still used, but communicating via-email is much more convenient for the patient. These changes in health care and communication have impacted the way we use new technology, and how we seek treatment. For many patients, consumers, and providers the delivery of care will still remain a big concern. As consumer we drive the health care market, and without the advances in technology, and organization are willing to provide alternatives to communicate, and patients would remain unsure of the future development in the health care
