The horror of the seven-day journey to Belsen concentration camp along with Miki, his mother Judith, his grandmother Rosalia, his aunt Margo, and cousin Chava was unbearable. Conditions in Bergren Belsen were horrendous , there was very little food and water. There were no toilet facilities in Belsen which led to an awful stench throughout the camp , at first the smell was unbearable but the prisoners soon got used to.Many of the prisoners wore very little clothing which were mostly rags and scrap material. The prisoners had no source of heat so they had to huddle together to keep warm. The prisoners were weak and frail due to the malnurishment. Both adults and children were treated the same , they were abused both physically and mentally by the SS guards who didn’t allow any child to live happy lives.
His home life was very broken as a child until his parents divorced when he was six years old. After that, he was sent to a Catholic orphanage where he was punished by the nuns. Whenever Smith would wet the bed, the nuns would beat him. Perry states, “I had weak kidneys and wet the bed every night. I was severely beaten by the cottage mistress, who had called me names and made fun of me in front of all the boys” (275).
But currently are up to 73 million sharks are finned alive every year. As a result of these huge numbers of victims, shark species are considered to be in danger of extinction. Sharks can take up to seven years to reach maturity and only have about one or two “babies” per year, unlike fish, who can lay millions of eggs at a time. This is the biggest reason why sharks are becoming extinct. The practice of shark finning is inhumane; we should never treat mammals in such a cruel manner.
Are we as bad as ‘The Cove’ killers? [23000 dolphins are killed in Japan each year. The Cove, a documentary film made in 2009 about the massacre of the dolphins, shed light on this hidden tragedy] Culling dolphins has been part of the Japanese culture for four centuries and only in recent years have westernised civilization labelled this as inhumane. But are the western ways not as equally merciless? In a discussion about Morality of Animals by Cory Davis it quotes “Animals are conscious, they feel pain, they can think and they have rights.

In accordance with the fundamental scheme format of science fiction novels, Steve Alten, the author of "Meg", has provided a classic, typical conclusion to his novel. In brief, condensing 348 pages into a mere two sentences, "Meg" is about a gigantic species of shark believed to have died out millions of years ago. The whole novel revolves around a hunt for this shark, and it would be almost infantile to mention that in the end the shark is killed by a brave, heroic scientist who has been tracking it down and believed in its existence even when many remained dubious until the terrible Meg (an endearment of Carcharodon Megalodon) actually surfaced from the deep darkness of the Mariana Trench where it had hidden undetected all these years. Yes, the good guy kills the shark and ultimately saves the whole world from being eaten alive. Apart from a small twist in this book (a hungry fifty foot shark) it is safe to declare that Steve Alten's "Meg" is just the same as any other science fiction paperback.

This leaves the reader to believe he is obtuse and selfish, however, on page 20 Jason says “Have some of my money to help you, say so for I am prepared to give with open hand.” He offers to aid them while they are exiled; it shows he is not entirely malevolent. Jason’s two sided personality is similar to the symbol of Yin and Yang, which states there is a little good in bad and vice versa Like all tragic heroes, Jason has a tragic fall from his elevated status cause by hamartia or “tragic flaw.” Medea states his “It is not an example of overconfidence or boldness thus to look your friends in the face, friends you have injured-no, it is the worst of all human diseases, shamelessness,” page 15. Jason’s indifference to the torment he causes is what makes Medea plot her sinister pay back against him Jason has gone on many expeditions such as retrieving the
