The Cove The first word that poped out of my mind after I saw the movie “The Cove” is “Wow”. In the film, Ric O’s Barry which was a dolphin trainer, he figured out that dolphins are such intelligent creatures, they shouldn’t be captive and fill humans’ happiness, and they belong where they came from, the ocean. In Japan, Taiji, 23,000 dolphins are being slaughters each year in the cove, it really harms the dolphins population, and nobody knows this is happening, not even the Japanese people. The Japanese government knew what was going on, they wanted money, they hid the facts, and they feed their kids with meats full of toxins. Should dolphins be living in a stressful life because of our human’s selfishness?
An American woman, Minnie Vautrin, who kept a diary which has been likened to that of Anne Frank wrote: "How many thousands were mowed down by guns or bayoneted we shall probably never know. For in many cases oil was thrown over their bodies and then they were burned." One diabolical means of torture was to bury victims to their waist and watch them get ripped apart by German shepherds. “Witnesses saw Japanese soldiers strip victim naked and direct German shepherds to bite the sensitive areas of his body. The dogs not only ripped open his belly but jerked out his intestines along the ground for a distance”.

This pollution has since affected their health and has resulted into more cancer deaths, miscarriages, defects in births, dying of livestock and the sick fish. The attempts to solve the problem and prosecute those involved have proven futile since the county‘s judicial system is marred by corruption. The company was required to clean up its mess and pay for the damages. The toxic waste dumped in the area is believed to be of an estimate of 18 billion gallons, and its remains are still present to date. The company that took over the ownership from Texaco was later ordered to pay eighteen billion dollars for the damages. In the documentary, The Cove, O’Barry exposes hidden truths about the abuse to the dolphins that are captured in Taiji, Japan and slaughtered. This film I watched the other night and was strickened with sadness and shock as to the cruelty to the animals and the deceit by the authorities to hide the truth of what is being done. Watching this film motivated me to write about Richard O’Barry because just in this accomplishment
This exhibited the physical pain that the soldiers were going through. Even though they had lost their boots, they still struggled on in order to survive; although their feet were caked with hard, dried up blood. Cud is previously swallowed food by cattle that is regurgitated and swallowed a second time. Owen made the phrase, "bitter as the cud" to illustrate how the man that was dying from the gas attack was indeed dying a slow and painful death by the regurgitation of his own blood. The use of the graphic animal imagery in this poem brings out all the soldier's painful sufferings.
This way the speaker insists his allies to die like humans, like men. In the next three lines we understand why the speaker and his allies have fight - they have no choice. “Hunted and penned in an inglorious spot” (2) refers to the place where pigs are kept behind the fence - a filthy, smelly “cage”. In connection with the first line, we can see that there was an influence of others, who
Venezuela’s prison La Sabeneta is one of the worst prisons due to that they have one guard to every 150 inmates. Corruption and bribery is normal with the staff and 624 hurt and 196 murdered in 1995 shows the brutality of the prison when an inmate had a gun battle with the inmates. La Sante prison in France is well known for its high suicide rate with 124 suicides in just 1999. Some have even eaten rat poison to escape from living there. Many have become slaves while others only leave their cells for 4 hours a day.
As the pigs become more powerful and seize control, Old Major’s vision turns horribly sour. The plot is a satire on Stalinist Russia, also the novel deals with the more general theme of the abuse of power. Old Major’s vision was for a Utopian society for all the animals. He wanted their lives no longer to be miserable, laborious and short. They are born and only given enough food to keep them alive, the capable animals are worked to the bone, and once useless they are slaughtered with hideous cruelty.
The first idea is that man is a parasite, a being who ‘consumes without producing’, lazy and weak. This sets up the central theme of injustice that such a creature should be lord of the strong and productive animals. This is reinforced by appealing to each individual set of animals. First the cows, who have given thousands of gallons of milk, then the hens who have laid eggs, then the horses and their foals, then the pigs, then the dogs. This makes the speech much more personal towards the animals as it makes it easier for them relate to because part of the speech is directed at them.
