Iron Man vs. Batman “In one corner stands the metallic god himself, the one, the only, Iron Man! And in the other corner we have the black caped, man of mystery, Batman!” an announcer bellows out to the watching crowd. A gong sounds and they face off. Batman throws a black metal bat-a-rang at his adversary. It flies across the ring, glancing off Iron Man’s brilliant red armor, creating a dazzling shower of sparks. Gasps echo through the expectant crowd. Iron Man’s boots ignite, propelling him off the ground. He launches himself at Batman, who catches him and wrestles him to the ground. The audience goes eerily quiet, waiting to see who will be the victor. In this epic battle, Iron Man’s metal suit gives him a clear advantage against Batman’s rubber and Kevlar ensemble. Batman’s suit is no match against the blunt force trauma that Iron Man would be able to deliver with the added strength his suit provides. The suits help protect both adversaries against blades, bullets, and the occasional explosion. Iron Man also has the distinct advantage of a super computer in his suit that helps calculate the best areas of attack and his opponent’s weaknesses. Despite these contrasts, these two men have a lot in common making them more closely matched. Batman and Ironman’s real names are Bruce Wayne and Tony Stark. These men are both billionaire playboy bachelors. Bruce is the leader of Wayne Enterprises. Tony is the owner of Stark Industries. When Bruce was a child, he was deeply traumatized by his parents’ murder. In his adult life, this led him to fight crime in Gotham City as Batman. Tony’s family story has changed with each reboot of the comic book character. He was kidnapped, and forced by his captors to build them a weapon of mass destruction.
