Their ability to provide 24/7 technical support to airline operations, keeps them in constant connection with their customers. Boeing also offers training on maintenance and flight crews through a partnering firm, Alteon (Boeing, 2008).

Since then security has been a common topic of controversy. Many changes have taken place at all airports to prevent any attacks from occurring again. I believe security is a vital piece in keeping our airports safe no matter what it takes, regardless of privacy issues, so I will review airport security procedures, introduce the different types of technology used for airport security, and explain that the technology used is crucial to our safety because all of these factors are what protects us during our travels despite what others may believe. Each day hundreds of flights depart from other countries en route to and from the United States, so security is important along with working with foreign countries to secure all transportation of airlines. The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) protects its passengers by inspecting air carrier operations to the U.S, assessing the security of airports overseas, and addresses many compliances and reviews of airport security (TSA: Global Strategies).

Having the mistakes of the past fresh in mind Boeing in turn is changing the way they manage their supply chain. Boeing has modified their supply chain organization into a dynamic organization also called a modular or virtual organization. Bateman and Snell (2007) explain that this type of dynamic organization can be very successful offering, “flexibility, innovation, quick responses to threats and opportunities, and reduced costs and risks” (p.65). Strategically, Boeing has planned for their new supply chain model to give them a competitive advantage. Scott Strode, Vice President of Airplane Development at Boeing commented that they value their approach to involving partners as it, “has resulted in the development of a better airplane that can be produced more efficiently”(The Collaborative Supply Chain at Boeing).
Since inception, JetBlue’s strategies were to use technology, innovation, and human services to create a competitive advantage against their competitors. They wanted to be able to provide high quality airline services while keeping fares at an affordable rate. With over 30 years experience of service-based businesses, Ann Rhoades (Rhoades) fits the culture and vision of JetBlue. She plays a critical role in developing a value-based team that truly cares for their crew members. The company must concentrate on the needs of its core customer group in order to be successful with this type of business strategy. Jet Blue seems to have a reasonable strategy, but must be better aware of the external environment.
