The types of teams that involved in this case are cross-functional teams, task forces teams and self-managing teams. First, cross functional teams. Cross-functional teams bring together members from different functional departments to work on a specific problem/task. Acme had three functional groups at the Wichita plant which were: operations, mainly consisted of hourly workers who ran and sustained the extracting equipment; the “below ground” group, made up of engineers, geologists, and geophysicists who found out the way and the location to drill; and the “above ground” group of engineers are responsible for transporting and superficial processing of the minerals. Second, task forces teams. They are formal teams created to run a particular objective and assumed to split up when that objective is attained. By this, employees will actually turn up and speak to each other. Meeting was carried out every month in which employees were encouraged to involve themselves and discuss about the unsettled problems. The third one is self-managing teams. In this team, members have the authority to decide on how they distribute and finish their work. The teams are in charge of their work themselves, rather than managers or supervisors. They decide things on their own, keep an eye on their own performance, and amend their behavior during work desirable to settle problems, meet objective, and become accustomed to varying situations. Without the need to look for approval by the management, SPIT has the power to deal with problems by itself. The team at Wichita plant succeeded as opposed to the team at Lubbock plant because of Suzanne Howard has an experienced partner like Donald Peterson. Donald Peterson’s great experiences make him understand well about the difference between ‘Brains’ and ‘Brawns’, so he turned out to be the main person to resolve a variety of problems faced by
