Functional Area Interrelationships The primary reason why of Patton-Fuller Community Hospital (PFCH) exists will be analyzed by their vision, values, mission and goals. We will analyze the reason for the type of organizational structure employed by Patton- Fuller Community Hospital and identify key positions that support that structure. The steps of the collaboration process among PFCH that must be employed to achieve the organizational goals will be identified and explained. An action plan will also be prepared to implement the collaboration process. We will provide an example of the use of lateral collaboration and vertical collaboration within the organization, and prepare an action plan to use lateral and vertical collaboration. The Chief Operation Officer needs to collaborate with other departments (e.g., Chief Medical Officer, Chief Financial Officer, Chief Operations Officer, etc.) to direct compliance issues thru existing channels for investigation and resolution to make sure that the services provided are meeting the needs of the patients. Patton-Fuller Community Hospital goal is to make the patients experience as pleasant as possible, so improvements must constantly be made to keep up with the needs of the patients. If a patient’s needs are not being met because the hospital does not have the required equipment an action plan would have to be made to make sure the hospital is meeting their standards set by their mission statement. To purchase the required equipment an action plan would be set and different departments would have to collaborate to make it happen as quick and painless as possible. When new equipment is being bought the finance department would be involved to make sure the funds are available. Depending on what type of equipment is needed the department where it will be placed will be involved because they would need to train staff or if additional personnel is needed to upkeep the new equipment. Ants and honey bees in the insect world collaborate every day for them this is a way of life. An example of a vertical collaboration is when a group of people in an organization in different levels work together to accomplish a project or task for the Patton-Fuller Hospital this takes place every day. An example of this is when performing surgery on a patient in the Patton-Fuller Hospital. For a surgery to take place a number of different professionals of different levels of education and positions. These different professionals hold important positions requiring effective communication through vertical collaboration for this service to take place. Collaborating with in a surgical team will assist in a successful operation. Teams always use collaboration when working together Individuals of groups in a parallel level are collaborating to accomplish goal. An example of a lateral collaboration may happen at Patton-Fuller Hospital at lunch time or the break room over a conversation. The conversation may be of a situation in the past a doctor may have encountered. A college of the doctor when responding to the conversation may advise the doctor of a method more effective for future use.
