The nurse educator, on the other hand, was involved with her team indirectly by educating the staff on patient care issues. I am able to be respectful and have patience with everyone even when under stress. If I am taking care of a patient who is rude and resistant to being taken care of I would not give up on he or she. I would try my best to make the patient feel more comfortable and always ask them what is there I can do to make their time in care easier for them. Even though patients can seem angry at times we have to remember they may be going through a lot of stress, most likely more than us nursing students. A professional characteristic I possess is being serious when needed.

We all know that nursing is a field that is concerned with helping people, yet I believe that in becoming a nurse, a person needs more than that desire to succeed. It is essential for a nurse to be open, strong, determined, thoughtful and caring. These qualities would reflect on the nurse and would make caring for the patient easier. I believe that I belong to this field because I always wanted to make a positive influence in people’s lives. I always felt the need to care for someone since I know that I have the power and the choice to do so.
