However, Sam was lucky to have Carla, the counselor at Seton Hall, who did more things than she should have to motivate the doctors to succeed in college. “She feared that if one of us dropped out of the program, she risked losing all three of us. She vowed not to allow that to happen, and she became our angel, guiding, protecting, and pushing us as we traveled
In her article, Dowd argues against the use of such application like RoomBug and website like URoomSurf.com by claiming that, first of all, being able to choose their own roommates would block out the opportunity for students to mature socially. She contends that being put into the same dorm room with people students don’t like or find it difficult to live which can “toughen you[the student] up and broaden you[the students] out for the rest of your[the students’] life”. However, though the statement is true in some parts, the writer has overlooked another crucial point: a dormitory is not the only place people can learn how to live with others. Students have to communicate with other people apart from their roommates in daily life. For example, students will need to converse and work with other students while preparing for a group presentation, discussing with their teachers after class about

The article explains how social clubs like fraternities permit students to drink but did not provide guidelines on how to drink and have fun responsibly. I think as future leaders, college students should be aware that their behavior is always on the limelight and be more careful when involved in situations such as binge drinking.

But we cannot raise them up as Freedom Riders unless we are willing to challenge the status quo for freedom ourselves. As we can see for ourselves that our society changed because of the Freedom Riders, and those Freedom Riders represent the possibility of social change.
