Now in days once employers sees a potential employees degree, they aren’t even worried about the skills they learned in college, they just see that that person attended college. Employers do not value what the student learned, just that the student has a degree.”(pg. 67) Students need to consider the level of competition they will be facing once they graduate. Parents feel that if they send their child off to college they will become more mature since they are independent while in college, but Murray thinks college is not the right place for that maturity level to occur. Although college is supposed to be used to help us prepare for our future careers and lives, many people get a lot of different life lessons out of it and in a way that is just as good as receiving their education.
Being the first person in my family to get a college degree makes me feel so good. Setting example for children and letting them see that mommy can do it is priceless. The things that we do in life as far as school wise are thing we can take us to the next level is just a lot of us lose hope we are not sure where to go. If at any point they failed, they would see this as a big mistake and give up and have a lack of motivation. It can also be argued that working class children do not get the support of their parents, this is because many of the parents believe that they survived without an education, so believe that there children can do the same. Working class families can also lack in support in terms of if the child fails a particular exam, they would not give them positive feed back on how they could improve they would improve. Whereas, it can be argued that higher class families have more motivation and the parents also give the support to the children that is needed. This would have a positive influence on the child’s education as it would give them hope and not give them an opportunity of giving up.
But how could they feel safe, without feeling free? In Mencken’s seventy-six years of age he assumed that he finally figured out what the average human longs for in life. In his opinion, it wasn’t freedom that was desired, but safety. However, the society that is lived in today is not one where a person could feel safe in an environment that they are not free in. During times of slavery, slaves did not sing songs to assist them in getting through the day or dream of a tomorrow where they would no longer be in captivity for the desire of safety.
We live in a country where everyone should be treated equally. Just because a student chooses to be athletic doesn’t mean he/she should use their athletic skills to get a free ride throughout their college years. A college student being exempt from classes is unfair to other students, it is their loss of education and not taking college so serious will later on bring consequences. Why go to college if you don't take the classes? Seems kind of pointless, most athletes don't go pro after college, so I why not get the full educational experience?

The one group that outweighs all the others is the college graduates proving that with a college degree unemployment is less likely to befriend people who do pursue college. Some people might say that there are loads of jobs that do not require a college degree, especially in this time and age. However those jobs do not pay remotely has high as the jobs you can score with a college degree.
