One of my strengths includes leading by example and earning the respect and loyalty of my team members. Assigned goals are achieved by employees who match the same efforts demonstrated by their fearless leader. Every team member is treated with respect and is a valued team player. This type of management style boosts confidence and increases the drive to succeed. Team members are eager to satisfy assigned tasks given from a leader who supports and assists their efforts.
Trust is developed by clearly defining roles, expectations, and goals. This develops a familiarity between the different team members, which helps to produce a shared vision and reliance on each other and improves the team’s effectiveness (Bethea, Holland, & Reddick 2014). A highly effective team uses its shared vision and defined goals to foster a sense of group harmony. This allows for problems to be solved and goals to be achieved. With each problem solved or goal achieved, excitement grows within the team and a sense of accomplishment is felt once the process is completed (Bethea, Holland, & Reddick 2014).
Humanistic-Encouraging people are accepting of themselves, and accept others for who they are without question or criticism. In fact, those scoring higher on this scale have unconditional positive regard for others. This absolute acceptance enables people to grow the most and take greater responsibility for themselves. I agree with this result and believe that I can assist others in fulfilling their potential by providing a supportive climate that inspires self-improvement. As a manager, I can see myself inspiring my subordinates to think, grow and take responsibility for them.
Hard work goes along with dedication and sticking to your plan in order for you to eventually achieve success. Ms. Winfrey also stressed the idea of believe in yourself a lot. This was a quality she found to be very important because when you believe in yourself you can achieve a lot more. By evaluating and comparing my characteristics with my admired leader, Janet Mock, “People working for charismatic leaders are motivated to exert extra effort and, because they like and respect their leader, express greater satisfaction” (Robbins & Judge, 2013, p. 381). Developing those additional leadership skills and advancing the characteristics I currently possess, will allow me the opportunity to expand my horizon. Conclusion Understanding and evaluating leadership styles and theories can allow an individual to assess his or her capabilities.
She is more than capable of showing emotions, but she can be brought down due to the feelings of others. It is easy to see that some individuals are more motivated than others. “The self-efficacy theory developed by Albert Bandura holds that an individual’s belief that he or she is capable of performing a task is a complement to the goal-setting theory as it incorporates goals into the process. Higher efficacy is related to greater confidence, greater persistence in the face of difficulties, and responding to negative feedback with working harder, not shutting down” (2011). Tara is not very engaged when working and does not enjoy talking out issues with co-workers and managers however, she is capable of managing her attitude in the work-place, very detail oriented, and comfortable with her work.

By helping others, you make everyone’s life at work easier, plus you are helping to create a happier working environment. * One of the most important things that help make team-working effective within GFirst is, working in teams allows for a greater pool of ideas and solutions. Working with different people allows for the use of individual skills and knowledge to come together in order to find a solution. This is generally a more effective way of working, as the team will finish the task more quickly.
Performance Management systems are necessary to both monitor and evaluate the practices work flow and goals and to ensure the best productivity from staff by setting clear goals and providing the opportunity for staff training and development. When correctly designed and implemented as a genuine attempt to help employees reach their full potential, regular performance appraisals can be a great motivational tool that contributes significantly to the organisations success. Acknowledging a staff members strengths and efforts makes them feel confident and appreciated, while helping them identify their weaknesses. It allows us to put strategies in place and develop training plans to strengthen these areas. A satisfied and efficient team makes a happy and productive workplace which goes a long way towards increasing the success and profitability of a business.
