Breakfast Club Movie Essay Name: Course: Tutor: Date: The Breakfast club – Analysis of the parenting styles In the movie “The Breakfast Club”, five students of different stereotypes are sent to detention for various crimes they have committed. They have been sent to the school library by the principal, have to give up their Saturday and pass the time writing an essay. They are all from diverse backgrounds with quite diverse personalities, which is the, reason for the shenanigans and frictions. As the day progresses, they pour out their hearts, only to discover that they have a lot in common. In the group is Alison Reynolds the misfit, Andrew Clark the jock, Brian Johnson the geek, Claire Standish the princess and John Bender the rebel. It is apparent that they all have stressed relationships with their parents, are unsure about their future and have immense pressure from their peers (Loukides, 30). Allison Reynolds is a strange, unusually silent character, who is a mystery to most people. She did not do anything to deserve detention, except that she had nothing to do on this day and decided to go into detention in order to find company. Her parents are uninvolved and ignore her. They are less concerned with her life, which causes her, to suffer from chronic loneliness and boredom which make her extremely reserved. Andrew Clark is in detention for taping together a guy’s butt cheeks in the locker room. He is the regular athlete in the wrestling team who seems happy about life but harbors a vendetta against his father who is an authoritarian. His father is an authoritarian who does not care about anything regarding Andrew except for him to win his wrestling matches (Dunkleberger 75). His expectations cause Andrew to become a person who only solves his problems through confrontation. Brian Johnson is an A level student whose friends refer to him
