UKCP produces publications and runs meetings and conferences to inform and consult on issues of concern to practitioners and support continuing professional development. As part of its commitment to protection of the public, UKCP works to improve access to psychological therapies, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards, and also deals with complaints against organisational members as well as individual members. Looking at the similarities they have the same standards and practice of care requirements and uphold the same values and ethical principles. Some difference seems to be that BACP have members who describe themselves as counsellors are educated to undergraduate diploma level and mostly employed in organizations. Where members of UKCP who describe themselves as psychotherapists are generally educated to master’s level and are mostly self-employed in private practice.
Introduction In this account I will concentrate on an established clinical skill that I have been practicing for many years. Presenting this assignment reflects the assessment and care delivered to a patient within my working practice. Using Gibbs model (Gibbs, 1988) as a working model will allow my thoughts / feelings, evaluation, analysis, conclusion and action plan to be deduced. I will apply critical thinking and underpinning knowledge to evidence based practice and thus concludes with an evaluation of increased clinical competency and personal development. Reflection as a learning tool allows me to identify the positive and negative aspects of my practice and to draw upon previous experiences and apply them to new situations “Reflective practice has, however, the potential to help practitioners in all fields unlock the tacit knowledge and understanding that they have of their practice and use this to generate knowledge for future practice”.
I will need to learn everything I can including healthcare management, finance and accounting, legal & ethical parameters, patient laws and health and disease factors. I must be able to have the needed experience and appropriate employer/employee communication skills to effectively run and manage a facility. It is extremely important I am the effect leader of a group of team players as successful leaders have an understanding of how much employee learns best. My experience and classes earning this degree will provide the needed knowledge for my field, as well as numerous team project activities to help me manage groups and learn more about people. The delivery for long-term health care has greatly changed over the years.

When counselling professional is listening to their client, they are using counselling skills as the main tool in applying their expertise, as this definition illustrates: Counselling, often described as ‘talking therapy’, is a process aimed at providing clients with the time and space to explore their problems, understand their problems, and resolve, or come to terms with their problems , in confidential setting. (Sutton and Stewart 2008). In practising counselling skills, counselling professionals have clear aim in assisting their client while their practice is governed by counselling ethics. In the United Kingdom, the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) is the largest organisation that governs work of counselling professionals. One skill that makes possible for all other counselling
They may have many contributing factors which effect everyday life that require exploration during the counselling process. Different ethnic groups may be driven by ingrained thoughts and beliefs which may be introjected by their parents making some of these abuse issues acceptable within their community. For a therapist to work ethically with abuse and the issues a client may bring to therapy it is important to look into, and be aware of, all these acts of abuse and what effects they can have on a client. There are policies and procedures for cases of abuse and latest policies and procedures regarding safeguarding are intended to be in place to support vulnerable people from abuse. Using my own experiences I hope to explore these issues within this essay and in doing so highlight my awareness of how these issues can affect a client and how therapy may help during the healing process.
At the first visit the client can always be refer to a different clinic if the clinician doesn’t take the specific case but this is a people helper profession. As we get to know that profession better we might not want to see all cases either for personal or preferences but not offering the help is not acceptable. It doesn’t matter if they gay, straight, rich, poor, disable, rapist, pedophile either or as a client I would have been very unhappy to be turn down without any referral to my needs. “The tools for conducting an effective assessment are numerous. The first session is often spent conducting an intake interview, which includes collecting basic demographic information about the client (age, marital status, number of children, ethnicity, etc.
Life skills coaching level 4 Assignment 2 1. Considering the key learning points in the first section, briefly discuss how you should assess the client who visits you, and name two pitfalls of assumptions. Assess the client by Carry out a full assessment procedure then decide whether you can cope with the individual’s issues * Never assume that you know what is wrong with a client as you may miss some important information. * Another pitfall is to never stereotype the client * Allowing your own prejudice’s issues affect the way you assist the client. 2.
Windy Dryden (2006) says it is basically a person’s desire to rid themself of some kind of personal pain due to life’s adversities, or character traits which may be hindering a fulfilling life (p.5). She also notes that attending counselling as a course requirement should be considered a legitimate reason. (p.5) As a course requirement I attended a counselling session with Annie Rabin, a professional counsellor. McLeod (2003) says clients want to resolve something, learn something or achieve social inclusion. (p.16) My primary aim was to learn but I also achieved a measure of resolve with my problem.
Reflection on reactions felt whilst working with a client. I struggled extremely to find a memory of a strong reaction whilst working with a client in my practice, as it is my constant intention to be aware of my emotions and work through them. I cover myself with my ritual of intention, which is to set aside any of my prejudice , I also put out the intention to bring only those cliental that I can be of benefit to, so my ritual of intention is to be centered for my client. what is in my realm of awareness of subtle emotion that can arise is when a client is in crisis, I can have the feeling of pressure, of being able to empower the client with as possible , ie, knowledge, and self understanding to alleviate suffering asap ,without overwhelming them, thus identifying my intolerance of my suffering of circumstances re not wanting to feel or sit or express my negativity, thinking that I know better , thus not giving myself permission to feel express and thus move forward which is an aspect of myself that I am aware of . So by identifying any emotion that arises I feel, look, communicate with, and share with friends or take it to supervision to asses, and create strategies , new thought patterns and actions to respond with clarity and not emotion, Thus by becoming aware of any emotions of projection or transference that may surface, is our opportunity to allow the unconscious to be brought to consciousness thus creating awareness.
