Nuclear Explosions in Japan Nuclear Explosions: A nuclear explosion occurs as a result of the rapid release of energy from an intentionally high-speed nuclear reaction. The driving reaction may be nuclear fission, nuclear fusion or a multistage cascading combination of the two, though to date all fusion based weapons have used a fission device to initiate fusion, and a pure fusion weapon remains a hypothetical device. Nuclear explosions are also used as weapons in wars; atomic bombs. World War II Disaster: During the World War II, Japan had attacked the United States of America without any warning in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. In Return, The USA attacked Japan. When they saw that Japan wasn’t surrendering no matter what, it decided to use the most deadly weapon in the world for the first time; the atomic bomb. On 6th of August 1945, the world entered the nuclear age when USA dropped a single atomic bomb on the crowded city of Hiroshima, Japan. The Japanese soldiers still refused to surrender so the second atomic bomb was dropped on the city of Nagasaki at the date of 9th August 1945. Atomic Bomb dropped on Hiroshima When The USA attacked Japan in return, they bombarded Japan. 65 cities of Japan had been the target of USA. USA along with the United Kingdom and the Republic of China asked Japan to surrender. This attack had been taking place from nearly the last 6 months, but still Japan ignored it and refused to surrender. USA’s President Harry S. Truman gave the executive order of dropping an atomic bomb on the city of Hiroshima, Japan. This atomic bomb had a name ‘little boy’. The second atomic bomb ‘fat man’ was dropped on the city of Nagasaki. The target of Hiroshima was a city of considerable military importance, containing Japan's Second Army Headquarters, as well as being a communications center and storage depot.
