This film was near and dear to me, since I too have a daughter who is disable, due to Cerebral Palsy. She is now twenty years old. I will tell her story in a brief summary. She was premature by four months; upon her arrival she was only thirteen ounce’s. I was told by her Doctor that she wouldn’t make through the night. Well I informed the Doctor that she would be here when the morning come! The Doctor smiled but with a look of sadness and nice you have hope on his face! Well as Faith would have it, and by the way that is her name! She was there the next morning; well after many test, scares and challenges, six month later we were taking her home. Or placing us in a crowded room with only one exit can be very difficult for us at times. Also placing some of us who have been badly disfigured from explosion with a crowd of civilians, who don’t understand the nature of our problems and they stare at you with pity. Such as the question that was posed by the” Rachel Arfa” a student at the University of Michigan. In the Article: What do Disabilities have to do with Diversity? She asked the question, “Were students with disabilities a coherent minority group with a shared identity? Did their experiences as member of this group enrich the education of others on campus? (pp.6) Well my questions is does the person with a disability enrich the education of the very core of our soul? Do we look deep inside of our spirit and see the true meaning of our own existence when we see someone with unique qualities that maybe different from ours, but can still contribute as a useful vessel to God’s world? For like Billy who once was consider whole and “ Normal” world change in a blink of an eye, and now he had to look out of the eyes of the disable and see a whole new world!
